I hope coaches really like working with Elko because he’s going to be busy filling out a new coaching staff.

Good recruiters , decent Lb coach, not a DC. Should be able to upgrade.

Will promote the other guy to DC. He is an analyst or from a small school who joined last year. Done deal.

I was hoping we could look at Jim Knowles if this happened, but he's already off to Tennessee. Won't be fun facing him next year.

Sources: Lyle Hemphill, Texas A&M's associate head coach for defense, will be the next defensive coordinator at Texas A&M. He'll replace the departing Jay Bateman, who is off to Kentucky. He brings extensive experience working with Mike Elko, including at Duke.

No net change. Just need to backfill with a decent recruiter. NIL takes care of most of it.

I wonder if the ERob returning rumors have slowed down because he wants Bateman's job and Elko doesn't want to give it to him.

Looks like his background is coaching safeties. He was a social assistant before, right? So is promoted up to take one of the however many coaching staff spots are allowed. Net change is zero, so who coaches LB’s and how would someone new be added if needed? Or maybe another coach leaves and opens a spot.

Elko has been grooming Hemphill to takeover since he was hired, this should not be a surprise.

Fine with most of this turnover, but it’s so ridiculous that this shit has to happen during the playoffs. College football is so messed up

This was a gimme. Hemphill didn’t come here just to be a safeties coach.

I think people will realize quickly just why Elko brought him last season in the first place

I have a feeling that he's already been much more involved with the defense than any of us realize.

Your feelings are valid (dunno why feelings are being validated in a message board but nonetheless) 👍
