Legit Conversation About Heup

Pro: He’s clearly the best coach we’ve had since Fulmer. Con: He refuses to fire…..anyone (particularly underperforming assistants). Pro: His offensive system is elite. Con: He’s a B to B+ recruiter who won’t play more talented young players. Pro: He is better than anyone at prescheming offensive plays. Con: He coaches scared with a lead. Pro: He can coach the QB. Con: He pees down his leg with in-game coaching.

Will add some cons: - Zero clock management - Doesn’t know the value of timeouts, or situations in the game in which it’s nice to use them

We’ve peaked under Heup. Clearly the best coach we’ve had since Fulmer but we won’t anything of note with him. He’s too bad of a game manager, team can’t play on the road, team cannot play disciplined football.

Is Heupel really that good, or has our opponents taken a step back? When Tennessee beat Bama did they go to the playoffs? when Tennessee beat LSU did they go to the playoffs? when Tennessee beat UF did they go to the playoffs? When Tennessee beat UGA did….. oh wait, never mind…

The consistent sloppiness and undisciplined play is worrisome.

Taking a timeout and not kicking the FG with 3:15 left is just embarrassing. Probably won’t end up mattering anyway but you knew Bama would run three straight times their next possession. Score quick and you never know what could happen.

To me it’s not THAT they lost, it’s HOW they lost. I’m just tired of seeing them underperform on the road and against really good teams. I thought maybe the GA game was a sign of bucking the trend and then the last 3 weeks happened so I guess not.
