Let's Talk About the Oklahoma Gameday Experience...

... because I had an unreal time for my first time visiting this past Saturday. Really appreciated the love from the fans and the passion I felt all throughout the stadium. Here’s a video of my full experience from one of the wildest atmospheres in college football in Week 2. Hope to be back soon!

@ZakHerbstreit the one thing you missed was after a couple of “BOOMER(s)” you have to yell out “Texas” to get that response.

I had a great time myself. It was the loudest I've personally ever heard the stadium that night.

@ZakHerbstreit fun video glad you enjoyed yourself. on the natty count, Ou has 7 AP national titles and ~10 others that are unclaimed. Definitely more than Michigan (and Ohio state).

This is why OU should bite the bullet and count them all. Playing by a separate standard doesn’t get us anything. The next AD must change that and add 10 more national titles to the press box facade.

He said 9, he isn’t wrong just a majority are pre 1945.

@CareyMurdock @Josh_M @Eddie_Rado Considering Kirk and Pete were nice enough to join Joe Jr and Isaac for The Family Business, you all should probably pin this.

Lesser like ALABAMA? We should count using the same system they do. Using the same counting standard they do we have 17.

We have our 7 that are without question. The fact that other schools do it shows their insecurities, they are reaching for something they didn’t win outright.

Yes indeed. When you have people thinking Michigan has more titles than we do, there's a problem.

Acting like snobs about it is dumb and short sighted. We can try to parse the difference between "well THESE are AP titles, see, so that makes them legitimate and your titles pre-WW2 are meaningless" And while technically that may be correct, you know what the casual fan sees and what 18 year old recruits see? The total number of National Titles a school claims. That's it. Raw numbers. We gain NOTHING by counting by a different standard. NOTHING. We need to stop being snooty about it and join the fray. OU has 17 national titles.

I want definitive national titles, I don’t want other schools claiming to have won a natty the same year we did. Once that argument happens did we really win that natty?

Some of y’all need to realize that we’re only 20ish years away from pre-BCS NCs being seen the same way as pre-WWII ones are now

I hate to tell you this, but by your standard OU has ONE national title. The title in 2000 is the only "definitive title." Pre-BCS there are no "definitive national titles." none. not ONE is undisputed. The whole thing was a mess of AP voters and UPI voters and then coaches polls. When a team was on probation one whole polling system would exclude them totally. That didn't mean they were any less deserving and not the best team in the country. The coaches poll wouldn't consider OU the best team in 1974 and 1975 "by rule." And pre WW2 there was even less of a coherent system. Which is why college football agreed to pick the best two teams to play for an undisputed title using the BCS which then became a playoff. That doesn't mean we should simply ignore that time period pre-BCS or pre-WW2. We should acknowledge it was messy but claim them nonetheless.

I tend to agree. Michigan has 3 AP titles but claims 10 and that is just what the media repeats and everyone hears. OU acts like everything pre-WW2 doesn't count but no one else goes by those standards.

Another thing to consider is that recruiting is a marketing game now. 17 titles is a lot more marketable than 7 imo. Recruits aren't going to dig into our deep history to appreciate how snooty we are about the titles we claim.

OU should count all the championships, but they should separate them just to draw attention to the other schools' lameness. We have 7 real NCs and 10 fake ones.
