LSU’s Coaching Search Will Be ESPN Next 30 for 30

And yet somehow Auburn has the rep of being the crazy ex-wife of coaching searches.

Dude also goes after Jimmy Sexton at the same presser...which is a wild decision when you most likely need to try and hire one of his clients. It drives me insane that Auburn has the rep it does. Auburn got crucified for JetGate for years...even though Miami and Texas did the same exact thing recently and no one cared nor brings it up anymore.

He makes a few good points about paying people to not do a job. And well, slight shot to Jimmy Sexton as well. Thought that was interesting.

One of the main reasons we have that rep is because we have a large portion of our fanbase that succumbs to those crucifixions. This is the same crowd that thinks a fix at OC so Hugh can "lead" or that believes we shouldn't make a hire this year because there are too many "better programs" out to hire. I'm not arguing that we aren't lunactics, but everyone is a lunatic. We are Auburn looney - go hire a damn leader to put this program and university where it belongs. Brent Key or Jon Sumrall. Get it done.

Auburn incorrectly gets a bad rep because the national media has labeled Auburn as a program that should be happy with making bowl games. Tuberville and Gus type seasons is what we should be proud of. 8-4 and 8-5. LSU and Florida who has actually gone through more coaches than Auburn are programs that are top 5 type jobs oer the national media. Thus firing coaches like Mullen who had seasons like Tubs or Gus Should be expected for them. Its bullshit but thats the narrative in regards to Auburn. They dont think our fanbase know its place

Meemaw heading up our next search can't be worse than how we usually end up.

Based off this - go ahead and cross Lane off this search. They still don't have a president of the university either!

Agreed, but don't put it all on the media. Hell half the people on this board and even more off of it think we should be proud of 8-4. "This is what we get for firing Gus!" Stop with the best friend booster hires. Go get a culture coach and let him do his job however he wants.

We'd have accreditation threatened and be on 69 Minutes if we did this.

So we have a reputation of lunatic fans that want to fire the coach because of *checks notes* fans that don't want to fire the coach? Meanwhile I assume that you think you're the reasonable fan, but you want to *checks notes again* fire the coach?
