How can you have an entire offense recruited surrounding your type of players (mobile qb, 2 elite RBs , good blocking o line” and you quit on the team after the transfer portal and recruiting. Gus never cared about this team. Maybe now we can actually throw the ball downfield.

I bet Gus will be devastated to hear this.
🙄
The man has spent 35 years coaching and has made a decision to retire like millions do every year.
Regarding the offense it’s entirely possible IMO that CMN and the other offensive staff have decided to continue with what Gus brought. We shall see.

He came here to help Mike. He thought he could make a big improvement in one year and get Mike back on the right path. It didn't happen. It's also possible he sees next season as a disaster and plans to come out of "retirement" after a year.

Gus has always been about himself. Nothing he has done is not self serving. let him retire if that what he wants and say so long. Bye!

His mother is very ill. He’s been to Arkansas a lot.
Also, why the hell would he stay at FSU? Have you not seen the shit show that this is? We have a lame duck coach, we don’t have players for shit. Gus is the smart one getting out now.
Why would you spend another losing season with this crap? FSU is going to do exactly what UF did to Billy last year. Throw the season, fire Mike probably late September and then hire someone. Gus doesn’t want to be here for that.

Gus and Mike run the same offense, just a different perspective game planning and caller. It's likely Mike knew about his feelings for awhile and requested he wait until the portal close.

They knew for 3 weeks he was retiring. His wife isn't doing well, Norvell is in a bad sport to much chaos in his program.

It has happened with players in the NFL and now with coaches. It's just how it is sometimes. One day, you feel like you can take on the world, and the next day, you feel so messed up that you can't go on anymore.
The timing was bad, but this is not unusual.

Honestly, Gus’s sideline body language should be studied in coaching clinics under “What Quitting Looks Like Without Resigning.”, until today. Arms crossed. Blank stare. Zero engagement. Like a guy forced to attend a meeting about a job he already mentally left. Then you hear about the zero buy-in on recruiting, the staff meetings he couldn’t be bothered with, and suddenly the puzzle solves itself. When the spotlight wasn’t permanently glued to him, the interest vanished. Turns out “team player” only applied when the team served Gus. Leaders adapt. Builders recruit. Adults show up. Narcissists sulk on the sideline and wait for someone else to blame. And he did it right on national television.

I don’t recall saying a player is a POS (for taking advantage of a seismic change in college athletics) but honestly I do see it as different circumstances. So when a coach does it its cool but a player is a pos?
