At some point, “off” has to be who you really are. That said, not sure how long Johnson could hold up behind this line vs. legit competition. Not sold on Belichick as the head of a college football program but I have to give him the benefit of the doubt in this situation.

I don't know the right answer, but Lopez certainly has a lot to improve upon. Hopefully he is able to learn, iterate, and develop continuously.

He’s playing Richmond. How come he’s not going off? Isn’t this type of team S. Alabama played?

Agreed! At the very least he should get a chance to show what the offense looks like with him running the show. IMO this team won’t win 4 more games with Lopez starting. He is very late on every throw and just doesn’t seem to be able to read a defense.

I doubt it matters. I assume the staff knows what they're looking at and still think this makes the most sense. They're way more experienced with such things than me.

We haven't seen a QB on this staff who is competent. Unfortunately neither is fast Freddie.

Give him this game even though this game has been ugly ! Give him UCF then a bye week and if no improvement it's time to play max or the freshman . He had no spring practice and maybe even give him the Clemson game as there is a bye week after that.

I half expected Max to start the 3rd quarter but I also understand why BB is keeping him in. Not being here for spring ball was a big set back for him and he needs reps. The whole offense does.

Well, the freshman qb had a rough start... Belichick sees these guys in practice. I doubt that payroll is going to effect his decision on who gives the team the best opportunity to win. At least at this point.

I agree 100% as Gio cannot move the chains with his arm, period. I wonder if Max is banged up. After half, expected to see Max. If June Bug is that good, must have a QB whole can hit more than a wide open receiver .

Why did Newkirk get in before Johnson?

It would serve no purpose for Max to go in and hand off. They gave a true freshman a chance to make a play, and he failed. So now it’s a teaching moment.

Maybe two now. Not sure why you burn a game for a knee down

Gio is not a starting QB in a P5 conference. The TCU game showed that he shrinks under the spot light. Two lesser opponents and he is mediocre at best. I am perplexed why he is starting???

Gio will get first half/first few drives at UCF. If it is TCU-ish, Max will take over and it will be his. Obviously just my opinion. Multiple plays today with a receiver running open and he’s just late. Can’t throw anyone open and doesn’t anticipate. Just doesn’t look like a passers instincts.

Not sure what this is based on. The TDs Gio threw were very easy throws. He had one huge bad miss and other near misses on wide open receivers. We had guys running free and he couldn’t hit em. If we want a passing game this has to be better.
