Was at a work dinner and sports came up and of course I mentioned being a Michigan alum and fan.
Was sitting next to a USC alum and he immediately starts to bag on Michigan and states that it is because of his hatred for Harbaugh.
I tell him that hatred is a strong word, and while Harbaugh may be a strange duck he is a great guy, a man of faith and a leader of men. I talked about our team GPA under him, graduation rates, community service, Blake giving out turkeys, JJ donating to children's hospitals, the work our teams do at Mott hospital, Harbaugh beating the ambulance to the hospital when TK got hurt, etc..
So the guy says I don't care about any of that, and that Harbaugh ran up the score on USC including going for two while up big at Stanford. I countered that Pete Carrol was notorious for running up the score so I don't see how he would have such a hard time with getting it back.
He then went to Reggie Bush being vilified and tried to compare it to our sign stealing scandal. The guy literally said that USC didn't gain any advantage on the field while Michigan did from the sign stealing. I obviously responded that every team steals signs and it is actually legal. I then said that USC was actually paying players when it was illegal so they definitely had a massive advantage during the Carrol years as evidenced by him leaving college football before the hammer fell.
We had to agree to shut down the conversation as it was becoming toxic at a work dinner. The guy was a real jacka...!
Sorry for the rant but I hope we beat the brakes off USC!!!!
