Met the UGA AD

I just met the UGA athletic director at a work event and asked him about his thoughts on our football program. He said “Clemson will be fine.” Said teams like Clemson and UGA don’t have the same advantages they used to with the new NIL and transfer portal environment and that bad seasons are going to become more common with increased parity in the landscape. He also said the most pressing challenge that UGA and every other department faces is sourcing “real” NIL deals from local/national businesses. Found it interesting to hear an outside take on Clemson from someone in the know. Doesn’t make this season sting any less but it was good perspective.

I would agree with him about that for the most part. I would say orienting staff personnel toward teaching and developing over recruiting acumen is going to be something that takes hold over time.

The new NCAA guidance released today will make it even harder and that's a good thing
