You guys seem to like this, so I'll keep posting them. Remember, these are just opinions of people in the coaching/agent industry. Like most people, they're trying to get their arms around this crazy season.
-One source felt like LSU would have a slightly better chance to land Lane Kiffin than Florida. They felt like it was a better fit because, in their words, he'd have more control of the program in Baton Rouge. But he didn't rule UF out and thought other factors would be in play, one being simply, where he wants to live. Another person I spoke with said this: "Lane wants to win a national championship and he can do it at both Florida and LSU. I don't know if he can do it at Ole Miss."
-Where should UF turn if it can't get Lane? Of the people I spoke with Sunday, none thought Key or Drinkwitz would be good fits at UF. One actually suggested UF should try to make things work with Lincoln Riley. "Good coach, not working at USC, probably wants out." When I noted that it's hard to not win at USC, they responded, "Just think he's a better for for the south" without elaborating. He felt like Riley's offenses would be something UF fans would like. A prominent UF booster responded to this by saying, "Nobody wants Reilly." With Key, one gave a lot of credit to the team's success to OC Buster Faulkner.
-If/when Auburn opens, Drinkwitz "absolutely" would be interested, one industry source thought. There are some in the industry who think he's eyeing that one more than UF. That could be due to his familiarity with that program, since he worked there before. One also thought Penn State could become a realistic option for Drink.
-One agent said more teams, including UF, should take a closer look at Memphis coach Ryan Silverfield. "Helluva football coach and after beating USF he should be shooting up people's lists." Silverfield is 45. He's 49–22 at Memphis -- 28-6 since 2023. A Jacksonville native who played at Bolles. The agent who brought him up does not work for an agency that represents him.
-Heard some mention of Gus Malzahn being a possible candidate for UAB. Might be his last chance to be a head coach again.
-Agents are scrambling: "This is the craziest carousel we've seen in a long time."

I think LSU may be slightly more cautious with massive contracts that Kiffin would require after Kelly. I terms of “control”, UF certainly looks prepared to hand Kiffin the keys. Is LSU ready to do that after BK? We’ll see what happens…

Any idea what they mean by "more control of the program"? I feel like Kiffin is going to demand that anywhere he goes.

Good insight, surprised they think he’d have more control in BR, think it would be the opposite. Maybe missed them in the previous notes but would love to hear industry thoughts on Franklin and Brohm. Also interesting about Riley, think he would do well here.

Two G5 coaches I think you'd have to look at before Silverfield are Jon Sumrall who has done well at a couple stops and Alex Golesh who turned usf completely around in 3 years. Huh? With what unraveled last night, the damn governor had to get involved. How would he have more control?

Buster Faulkner getting the credit... SMH. Dude was MTSU, Arky St and Southern Miss OC for a decade prior to UGA in off field role for 3 years. In the very least you have to give Key credit for picking him when other HCs weren't.
