My thoughts going into this game

As expected no coaches will be on the road tonight recruiting. I do expect a lot of that next week during the bye however. We will have you covered obviously there too all week long. The more I look at this game, there is still a lot of unknowns from both QB’s. Both are facing 1st to me, Gunner on the road in the SEC and Aguliar facing an SEC defense. Something tells me whichever one handles it, that team is winning. I think Georgia is going to try to establish the run, I really do, that controls so much of this game. Georgia tried it last year and was unsuccessful early on, so they went to the passing game and Beck got hot in the middle minutes of that game. Georgia only rushed for 106 yards, but Beck went for over 340 in the air. This is not the same Tennessee front as last year, but Georgia has to be able to run the football. Joey Aguliar has not been pressured much this season, he has not been sacked not one time. That will change on Saturday. He has a history of turning it over, he had 24 interceptions in this 1st two seasons.. He has a lot better support system around him now, but he will trust his arm to make some throws in tight windows. Something tells me here that Georgia will get to him eventually and get one maybe two on Saturday. I think this game is a four quarter game, I do, so get ready for that one on Saturday too. Georgia 23 Tennessee 17

You see it almost exactly as I do. All of the money on the over in this game is very strange to me.

i think its tight most of the way but if we can keep the mistakes down we run the ball all over them in the 4th including some clutch scrambles/runs by Gunner

See it much the same way. I see us having a couple of Kirby Death Marches and eating up a 15-18 minutes of game time on 2 TD drives. That forces Aguilar to press feeling like they have to score and fast and he makes some mistakes.

If we only score 20-23 points this board will be on fire come Saturday night and I’m sure most will be asking for Pug to get the start for Bama 😢

I noticed that Kirby’s defense is real good at taking away Tennessee’s first option and that’s where their QBs have ran into trouble with sacks and turnovers. When you see Aguilar look to his first read and not take it, expect bad things to happen for their offense.

Dawgs 24 - 9. This Tennessee roster looks pretty mid to me.

The amount of optimism on this board is crazy to me. What have we seen from Gunner or the offense that tells us this game will be any better than what we did against non-competition the first two weeks? I hope we win Saturday, but honestly on the road with a QB who so far, can’t see the field, and offensive line that hasn’t been great smells bad things to me. Only hope here is that our D is elite and forces some turnovers. I don’t expect much from the offense and anyone saying they do….give me what your smoking

I agree with a lot of your points Rusty. I do believe whichever quarterback handles the pressure of this game will be the winning quarterback. I think Tennessee will try to come up crowd the box and try to stop the run and play a lot of press coverage on our receivers. IF our offensive line can protect gunner I think I receivers are better than their DB’a and that could be our advantage in this game. I do not have a concern at all on the defensive side of the ball. If we tackle well, I think our guys will hold them down to less than 20 points. I like our special team‘s unit better than theirs. The weather is supposed to be great so that will not play a part in this game. With that being said, Dawgs 20 Vowels 17

Nice observation. If we can stop the run from clicking and take away the first read, UT is gonna struggle. Heupel offenses are not complicated enough to exploit much other than that. They may hit shots outside that, but those are aberrations. Kirby has probably been so successful because UT simply cannot athlete them and the coaches are so good at taking away their primary plan.

I found that strange myself. I’ve got the o/u around 37 or 38. 49 is high and people are still betting the over.

Not me. If we score 23 and hold them to less than 20 I’ll be happy. That place is gonna be rocking up there and taking a first year starter up there is a tall task. Their defense isn’t bad. I don’t not expect to go up there and score 40 points on them.

Around Sunday and Monday, I was in the same boat as you but the more I read about Tennessee and their team and their deficiencies it kind of turned my mind a little bit. I listen to Cole Cubelic talk about our game against both Marshall and Austin P and he was saying that we only ran about six to nine plays out of three formations and that he thought that that was absolutely intentional. If you take that and you listen to the way all these people who have watched practice talk about gunner throwing the ball and pushing it down the field in practice, I think that we will see more of that against Tennessee. Our receivers are huge. Thomas And Young are Giants. Branch is a burner. If and it is a big IF our offensive line can protect gunner, I think we will be able to throw the ball on these guys. That’s why I have predicted the final score to be Georgia 20 UT 17. The over and under is 49 I would be Shocked if it goes over that.

UGA 24-13 , I just don’t see Aguilar adjusting well to the best defense he has ever seen. 1st time he has seen guys this big & fast all over the field. UGA get some turnovers to get short field for Gunner to get comfortable & UGA runs the ball effectively.

While I wouldn’t be comfortable taking the over it wouldn’t be some shocking outcome if it’s 27-24 or 31-20. Questionable QB play can lead to points for the other team too

Just throwing it out there, from a totally loser fan mentality: 1. Syracuse had a freak fumble that was returned for a touch down (7 Pts) 2. Tennessee throw a 73 yard bomb that would 100% be covered by everette / bolden (7 Pts) 3. Tennessee had a corner tip a pass on a blitz that was caught by diving defender. Tennessee had a 17 yard drive to score (7 points) 4. Syracuse drove to the 4 with 2 minutes left, turned it over on downs. would have kicked FG if game was close (3 Points) Boom, the score should have been 29 - 24 Syracuse.

Get up early and Jarrett Guarantano Jr will start pressing, get rattled and throw it to the good guys at least twice…

I think I picked UGA to score 20 in the preseason. I don't expect a bunch of points at all. Look at all of the big-time offenses that struggled on the road last year and thus far this year. It's difficult to hang points on the road.
