Pat Fitzgerald of Northwestern has settled his law suit and is looking for a coaching job

He was 1-11 in his last year at NW. Decent coach, but hard, hard pass.

somewhere like northwestern, a mid-lower teir school that generally has low annual expectations, is the perfect landing spot for him.

Outside of the covid mulligan, NW has been absolutely terrible since like 2019. He finished below .500 in 8 of his 17 seasons. Keep him away from Ann Arbor unless he's there to catch an L

We once had a 4-year starter on defense who was so impressed with Fitz on his visit, he was torn on his way home with his commitment to Michigan (and almost flipped). His Dad told me Fitz was wonderful in person (and was really good at selling Northwestern to his son). He will coach somewhere again… MSU is licking their chops.

Finishing .500 or above at Northwestern in any year is an accomplishment. At Michigan his ability to win would be greatly magnified.

He will ring in a new era with some serious car washing though!

Not sure how he would do in the NIL era where there is so much roster changeover from year-to-year. I'd be very interested to see how he'd do in this environment.

Michigan isn't going to be looking at coaches any time soon . just my prediction .

With all of the big jobs open, I wouldn't be shocked to see him get a 2nd or 3rd tier HC job. There's going to be so much movement this offseason, think of the openings that will be created by guys taking other jobs. Wouldn't shock me to see him at Stanford, Virginia Tech or somewhere like those kind of programs.

grass is always greener I guess . I hate to think about how bad things have gotten if Michigan is considering Pat Fitzgerald as the next coach . just not a fun thing to picture at all . Sherrone making the playoffs this year - awesome ! And it's still on the table !

He is 50 years old, incredibly experienced, tenacious, and now super enraged and engaged. Sign me up every day of thr week and twice on Sundays. Guy flat out knows how to deal with students, players (don’t talk to me about hazing — look at the press release my law school alma mater NW allowed to be put out — they publicly admitted they were wrong about him knowing, being aware, or engaging in anything other than coaching), alumni, and donors/NIL supporters. We’d be blessed to get him but unfortunately someone else will.
