BBN has been unrealistic for 80 years. Nothing new here and nothing that Pope did not understand and accept when he took the job. And by the way not everyone loved this team preseason. This roster was wonky from the jump.

How many of these roster experts knew Jaland Lowe would hurt his shoulder in the preseason and play no games while healthy?

College players deliberately sabotaging the program of the school they play at is one of the more wacky conspiracy theories I’ve heard

Cheats?? There is no such thing as that anymore. Yes give me the Nate Oats that is willing to do what is necessary. I don’t like it’s being done. But if it becomes ok, then give me a guy that will do whatever it takes to win. You were good with Pitino and Cal cheating behind the scenes.

I do actually want a coach (and AD) that will leverage the gray more than the current approach. We are a country mile from crossing the line. We are complying with rules no one else is because they don’t exist yet.

I kinda feel like the OP escalated quickly I don’t think the players are purposely sabotaging the program but I do agree that some of the vitriol against Pope has gotten out of hand I do feel like some have given him a shorter leash because of his faith or that he’s a dork and I don’t know why that matters

I ain’t reading all that. But Fire Mark Pope.

Somebody should create a message board with a mechanic like survivor. A vote at the end of each month to see who's voted off the island. If you get voted off then your membership is free for that month, you can still read all the content but can't make threads or post. When the month is up there's another vote.

Kudos to you. Some posters rationalize being continuously negative and especially on days like today folks are going to object to requests for even mild rationality. I don't think I agree about deliberate sabotage but on the other hand we're so in the dark I have no idea what is really going on. The religion stuff feels out of bounds, but I do think it is fair to say Pope is mission-driven and that this is both his strength and his weakness, and may make this job untenable if he is unable to adjust mission ideals versus realities. We did run Cal off and Cal is so much happier now....not because he didn't love (and exploit) being coach of UK, but just fatigue and unrelenting pressure/criticism. Cal looks totally comfortable in his own skin again.....and if you'll notice he isn't yellingm, screaming, berating, and yanking guys off the court every 45 seconds. Folks also seem obsessed with the coach needing to be a bad guy or real tough guy willing to bend some rules or look the other way. That has nothing to do with whether any of those folks could handle the pressure of the job. And, maybe most importantly, why would they want to. This season is not good and I'd like to understand that much better but I doubt that's going to happen. That said, I'd be hesitant about trying to get rid of a guy who actually wants to be the coach (or at least he did lol). He has a bigger investment in getting things right than anyone on the planet. I hope he is talking to some trusted collegues and listening to his assistants. I assume he communicates with Pitino... don't care what church he attends he is not a very good coach was winning at a rate of 64% and that is what he is doing now. not a good hire at all.

DO WHAT?? You think that, really??? I really like Pope, have met him and had a few conversations with him. .(years ago). But he is at fault, 90% his fault. You can't keep coming out flat. He going to have to change something in a serious way.
