Should Castellanos play the next two games?

I know reality is he’s going to but can you imagine if he gets injured like Travis against a cupcake team. I hope he’s out of both games by the 2nd quarter,

Anyone can get injured any time in this sport. He needs the reps in the system. If anything I'd like to see them work on the passing game. TC should be told not to run at all the next two games. He'll be done by the third quarter.

Yes, Castellanos better play the next two games; he needs reps, the team needs reps with him, and it may sound crazy. But Castellanos is a better athlete than JT. His frame is built differently; he's compact, not as tall. He's built like a finesse running back, whereas Jordan was lanky and prone to injury. I think he will be fine.

I agree they need to work on the passing game but also believe TC should continue running. That’s his game. He’s just as likely to get get hurt in the pocket as he is running, maybe even more likely.

Agreed. This seems like invaluable opportunity to work on passing. I'd love to see games where our wideouts can pad their stats. We didn't need it for Bama, and guys seem bought in enough to be patient, but our big 3 receivers need more than like 7 targets while blocking their asses off to stay engaged all season. Obviously this will change, we just didn't need the passing game Saturday.

It’s football. All teams have this issue.

Yes I’d love for him to throw for 250-300 yards each game and sit. Get in rhythm with the pass catchers.

The next two games are about putting stuff on tape that defensive coordinators have to prepare for that we have no intention of running against them

One thing that you see on film review of last weeks game is a lot of players executing their assignments at a high level. If we continue to do that this team can handle some adversity and a season doesn't have to snowball towards disaster when it may occur. The offense played much better but as Mike said we left a lot of points out there and we need more work with games like this where you can fine tune a team to be a playoff contender. If we can keep improving each week, our best case scenario goals are within reach which is hard to believe consider what we went through last season. enjoy

This thread reminds me of how Corey wanted to put Jamie Arnold in bubble wrap until June That would not have gone well

It’s long been said that teams improve the most between games 1 and 2. I’ve watched a number of film breakdowns of the bama game. There is a lot of a room for improvement on both sides of the ball. We only had 25 practices with all starters playing together before last Saturday.

If we can, we need to work on the passing game. He absolutely needs to go.

I started having those flashbacks the minute the Bama game was over and knowing we had two cupcakes on the schedule.

I think you'll see more focus on further improving the traditional running game without TC having to take off running at all. And more reps in the passing game to get the WR's and TE's more touches. And while we need TC to stay 100% healthy, same goes for the OL. Need to get the starting 5 out of the game as much as possible too.

Should our starting quarterback start and play? Yes. This isn't a bowl game.

No. We are playing a team that gave SMU a bit of a fight for while. Two of our starting WR's combined for two catches for a total of 14 yards (Boggs - Robinson). Both had drops. After the Boggs drop in the first quarter, Tommy never threw him another pass. The drops were not Tommy's fault. Neither pass was "perfect" but totally catchable. These guys need more reps with each other.

Yes but only handing the ball off or passing.

3 quarters in each game for reps, but sit him in the 4th.

WR recruiting will become a problem if the recruits think their sole job in Gus's offense is blocking.

Yes. Get him some work and then pull him as you get the big lead. Which will happen. The offense needs the reps
