But AP spoke to him yesterday and he said he’s had no contact with Tennessee. It could just be semantics (maybe his agent spoke to Tennessee on his behalf) or maybe it was a different Ryan Walters? I know that sounds dumb but I looked on LinkedIn and I see no less than 500 Ryan Walters. It’s not output of the realm of possible that one of them just played along with the joke is it?

I don’t know what comes of this, but his “rumors are rumors” comment didn’t exactly shut down speculation.
It reminds me of when Tampa press was asking Monte if he’d be joining Lane in Knoxville and instead of saying “no,” he said something like “that’s just speculation” and then taking the job a few days later.

Kind of makes sense on multiple fronts if its Walters - show a brief time period where due diligence is done, let Washington finish their game Saturday as you don't lose that many days, and announce him Sunday. Not saying this will happen, just saying makes sense.

So let me get this straight - you're pondering whether our 9 million dollar a year coach called just a random Ryan Walters, that he found on LinkedIn, about our 2 million + a year open position and said random Ryan Walters went along with it just for the lolz?
Don't overthink this OP. Either Walters really hasn't heard from us, has and is lying, or is just going by semantics and his agent or somebody else has done the contact. Calling the wrong # isn't part of it
