Well that starting lineup you named would be a good one if they get McNeil, Brown and Henri, so that’s a good place for their confidence to start. There’s really only two rotation bench spots to be filled if that scenario plays out.

They have all the info. We have very limited info. It’s easy.

And to the limited info we have, if we ended up with Brown, McNeil and Henri coming back, that’s a 10/10 portal run considering Malone is just now in double digit days on the job.

Then they move on to the next options on their board, which IC has reiterated that they will move on quickly to other identified options (that are not public/confirmed at this point).

Rell basically indicated there are names we've never heard.

No need in panicking IMHO. We will know a lot in the next week. You also have the possible 5th year option that could result in decent players available. I think we will be in good shape within a week. Only "slight" concern I have is who will be the backup at the 4 and 5 spot. Need to give these guys a rest for end of game. We failed in that area for a few years now. I also feel like there are players overseas being evaluated we don't even know about for some of these spots.

Well what if those options don't pan out? And then the backups to those don't pan out? And then every single player in the portal rejects us and they all produce a choreographed video where they are chanting "we hate Michael Malone" and doing the can can? Why is no one discussing this very real possibility

It comes from them actually being in the room, doing their job, and you sitting on the couch judging from afar, unaware of what is actually happening.

We are gonna be better next year than we were in 4 of the last 5 years. Nobody else has their roster fully built either. Quit pocket watching Lousiville, have some faith in our guy. Everybody get it together around here. Cowboy tf up you nancies!

In the absence of a constant stream of information, some will concoct worst-case scenarios out of thin air. We see it play out here daily. The staff has a much better read on things than we do. They are in daily communication with both the known targets and names we haven’t even heard. They have the entire picture. By all accounts, they feel confident about where things stand. That should transfer down the line to those following the goings-on from a distance. It doesn’t in many cases, but it should. This staff will put a good roster together. More importantly, it will coach and prepare the team well.

It’s not really an assumption. Read the reporting and look at the moves that they’re either making or not making.

While I am sure the staff is confident and believe this portal season is shaping up to be a success, I do have to laugh at the notion of sources telling IC anything other than they are confident. What would the alternative look like? "Yeah, Malone and Tanner are absolutely freaking out. Make sure that gets out so agents can bend the program over in negotiations!"

To be fair, they were pretty transparent when the dominoes weren’t falling our way the past couple of years. They’d do the same to Malone reporting wise.
