Ugh. I don't envy Sark right now. If he's cleared, do you really wanna play him so soon? Or do you ride with Caldwell and hope that the defense does it's job and allows the offense room.

I’m sure we have the information we need now. But we don’t need Vandy to have that info.

Caldwell - "Caldwell is 8-for-11 for 85 yards" We would take that comp # any day!

I may be in the minority, but I really don't want to see Arch out there on Sat, especially with the way Arch reacted afterwards. We need to start treating concussions with the seriousness they require.

I think I'd prefer Arch sit out this week regardless.
Rush him back and you risk a concussion that keeps him out the rest of the season.
Sark has largely been successful in games he has to play a back up QB. Let's trust him to build a gameplan aruond Caldwell and give Arch the bye to get well and come back for Georgia.

If Caldwell goes down, who is backing him up?

From Gemini. TLDR "In a recent study of collegiate football players, the average time between injury and return to play was around 16.1 days, with an average 7.3-day symptom-free waiting period before unrestricted clearance."
The return-to-play timeline for a college football player in the concussion protocol is highly individualized and follows a mandatory stepwise progression set by the NCAA, with each step typically lasting a minimum of 24 hours.1
There is no set number of days, but the process generally involves a full recovery from symptoms and a gradual increase in physical activity.
[HEADING=2]Key Components of the NCAA Concussion Protocol Timeline[/HEADING]

Initial Removal and Rest:
- Any student-athlete with signs, symptoms, or behaviors consistent with a concussion must be removed from practice or competition immediately for evaluation.2
- If a concussion is confirmed or suspected, they must be removed for the calendar day and cannot return to play the same day.
- The initial treatment involves symptom-limited physical and cognitive rest, with light aerobic activity often beginning within 24-48 hours as tolerated without worsening symptoms.
- The player cannot begin the full, graded return-to-sport progression until they are asymptomatic and have been cleared by a medical provider with expertise in concussion management (usually the team physician or a qualified designee).
- In a recent study of collegiate football players, the average time between injury and return to play was around 16.1 days, with an average 7.3-day symptom-free waiting period before unrestricted clearance. However, this varies widely.
- Return-to-Learn (RTL): The NCAA protocol requires a student-athlete to achieve unrestricted Return-to-Learn (return to full academic activities) before achieving unrestricted Return-to-Sport.4
- Medical Authority: The final determination for return-to-play is made by the team physician or a physician designee, who has unchallengeable, autonomous authority in this decision.5

I just don’t see mom and dad green lighting a quick turnaround. But, either way, they will be informed and advised by UT’s folks and their own.

Is Trey still with the team, or is he just straight up redshirting?

If truth be known, the Concussion was not so much caused by a hard landing on the turf, but a hit, by the LB of MSt, with helmet to helmet contact while Arch was on the turf. See any replays you can find and dispute my statement. It should have been a called flaqrant foul and a removal of the player, yet the penalties were not called. Just another of the many missed calls by the SEC Officiating crews this year.
In Concussion protocol means the determination of play or no play resides with the team doctors. Sark has no real control over the call. He is relating the correct info, not trying to fool Vandy of his status for the game, unlike the OU staff and Doctors with their QB injury.

What wrinkle can Caldwell give us that Arch cannot?

I think it’s a pretty straightforward call.
And I think it’s already been made.

Matthew Caldwell was brought in for a reason. Playing Arch fresh off a concussion on 6 days rest would be very risky.

No way you play him. He now has 3 weeks to recover. He can spend time watching Georgia film when he is physically ready to do that.
