Pretty bad if other coaches WANTED Stokes to go to UK because they thought Pope couldn't handle it. Doesn't say much for what coaches think of him other than he is a great guy. Didn't they say the same thing about Hubert?

It's a fair point. Arizona starts three freshmen but in terms of top 10 you're right. But Pope needs a recruiting PR win. Stokes would have given him some recruiting legitimacy. So far his three best HS recruits have been 4 star Kentucky kids plus a 4 star PG whose dad will be an assistant coach. Pope needs to close on an elite HS prospect. JMO

We all hope he picks UK. I hope we can all agree that Pope needs to sign an elite HS player. I'll give Pope a pass on years 1 and 2 due to injuries but I won't give him a pass on his HS recruiting. It needs to be better. It's why he fired Alvin Brooks. Hopefully Williams helps. We will find out next fall.

This has absolutely nothing to do with the portal. If anything this frees up alot of money for portal studs.

No there is a lot on here hopes he doesn’t pick Kentucky so they keep bashing pope.

They ALL relied on pros. Doesn't matter if Pope get's them from the portal or HS, and it doesn't matter what their HS ranks, but you absolutely need pros. The perception is that Pope can't get any of those... he missed on all his primary HS and portal targets last year. We'll see if he can do better this year.

I don’t agree. Most would be thrilled. Sure the vocal usual suspects will poo poo it but that’s on you for giving them one second of your emotional energy. Be happy and don’t worry about them.
