With Miami so clearly tampering with the Duke quarterback, and now Dabo, turning in Ole Miss, why is there not any adherence to the rules? It’s so obvious and clear and it’s yet another factor ruining the sport.
Why do we even have an NCAA?

Kind of a joke the NCAA cracked down on Atkins and FSU for tampering.

SamENole said:Not so much in this area. They are not powerless to impose penalties for violating rules agreed to between member programs. In this case, it is tough to prove tampering when 3rd parties are involved. If nothing else massive fines that go against the rev share cap would make sense if they can actually prove wrong doing. The NCAA is powerless, virtually every rule can just be overturned by a biased judge in a school's backyard.

Our justice system has become a joke as well. The bias judges rule on the side of whoever appointed them or the State they live. Why a lot of cases are going all the way to the Supreme court now.

1) the impacted school has to report it
2) have to provide evidence
few schools report, even fewer have documented evidence.
ncaa does not have subpoena power.
and as of late the ncaa has no interest in investigated anything more than the inside of its own wallet

The NCAA got old and their teeth fell out in the 90’s. Thanks to NIL and Rev Share they can’t afford dentures.

And just think. We got screwed when a coach drove a kid to a meeting for NIL. As usual, we didn’t even fight it.

The schools that tamper are the money makers for the sport. They aren’t going to go after the cash cows with any sort of effort.

Fabulous_nole said:First everyone hates the MCAA. They had decades to figure out a working system for compensation players fairly.. instead they buried their heads in the sand while they made billions. I remember when Arian Foster told the story of how his assistant had to sneak him money so he could buy Taco Bell because they were only allowed 3 meals a day under ncaa rules. Then all of a sudden they changed the rule. IMO they could have said every player get $100k a year and the players would have been ecstatic. Thats $8.5M roster or one QB in today’s market. Adjust for inflation and we would still be saving money. Nope they just fought it until it became indefensible. Now here we are and nobody wants to listen to anything they sayWith Miami so clearly tampering with the Duke quarterback, and now Dabo, turning in Ole Miss, why is there not any adherence to the rules? NoleTigity11 said:Agree completely. There are several guilty parties, but the most guilty are the university leaders (BOT and presidents) who created this system. And, the reason I know they like the system, when was the last time you heard a university president come out and say that he will investigate and take action, that he will not allow anyone in his employee to embarrass or shame the university? The Ole Miss president could handle the Ferrelli situation in 48 hours. The Miami president could do the same with Mensah. But, they don't because they support what is going on.Also ask yourself. The CSC is working on the tampering issues, as noted below:
“Enforcement on the Horizon
In a sign that NIL oversight is intensifying, the CSC cautioned schools that investigations into unreported third‑party NIL arrangements are underway and that certain institutions will soon receive notice of potential concerns. Although not directly stated, enforcement will likely focus on correcting the perceived exploitation and inducement of student-athletes via third-party NIL deals. In short, schools and athletics departments should consider auditing all MMR or associated-entity agreements to ensure clear NIL activation plans as the CSC suggests.
The nature and scope of future enforcement and penalties remain to be seen, as the CSC has not yet imposed any penalties. However, interested stakeholders should take its warnings seriously, considering its recent hiring of notable former prosecutors.”
Because of findings, as noted above, the CSC has recently hired federal criminal prosecutors to review their findings. The CSC did not have them on staff when they started their review of current NIL deals, and apparently the CSC found some “lack of reporting” and similar issues. I find it interesting that new public comments - from some such as the Miami AD - that they want to remove the cap from the ($20.M) allowable revenue share paid directly by the schools (which I believe are not reviewed by the CSC, as the CSC is focusing on the NIL third party deals) - was made after it was announced that the CSC has hired the prosecutors. Are the prosecutors hired just to use their expertise in criminal law and apply it in merely regulatory matters, or, are there criminal issues as well? In any event, the news of their hiring has gotten attention.
The portal just recently closed entirely a few days after the champ game, but it is still possible for players who got into the pipeline by the due date(s) can still do a deal with a college that wants them
The NCAA is not really part of this. But some schools are acting like they know that the CSC is going to find some members who violated the NIL rules. So, as I noted above, they are now focusing on the “non NIL” source of funding…the rev share paid by the schools.

Total silliness, but we are seen as a patsy who won’t punch back. And we don’t (unless the program is in danger of going under….that’s the only reason we sued the ACC).Kind of a joke the NCAA cracked down on Atkins and FSU for tampering.
