Team Whiteout Entrance

Just my opinion, but I feel like the pre-game routine is incredibly stale. I literally don’t know 1 person that likes the mic man before the game (and absolutely hate that they doubled down prior to the 4th quarter). Not sure if it’s PTSD since we lost the game, but Penn State had a super legit AC/DC entrance with fireworks in 2018. Wondering why they nixed that. That entrance was awesome and got the crowd super hype (think everyone was caught off guard in a good way and got jacked up). The other time I got chills was in the first quarter vs Michigan in, I think, 2017 (granted this wasn’t a big game since we won) - but they played “all of the lights” in the first quarter and everyone organically pulled out their phones and lit up the stadium. I guess the new lighting will give some new options in 2028 after the renovations are complete, but wondering why we settle for the lame, stale entrance we have now - I get Kraft has a ton going on, but would imagine that there is a gameday team that could handle this.

Glad you brought this up As it has never been discussed previously. Mic man is as stale as a 1960s Greyhound bus terminal ashtray. Make Some Noizzzze..……

I think it was Michigan in 2019 when everyone pulled out their phone. There was also something with first downs that they wanted fans to do that game? Either way, I remember not as many fans buying in as they thought would, and I never heard about it since.

It was. KJ Hamler had a great game that night with two TD pass receptions.

Can do without mic man but the We Are tune is fine. Either way the stadium will be rocking for the team entrance

2019 was my freshman year. In the freshman pep rally they emphasized that they wanted to "start a new tradition" where when the PA announcer says "and that's another first down for....", they wanted the whole student section to yell "PENN STATE" Was corny in my opinion and didn't last at all. You can't force a tradition.

Thank GOD that didn't catch on. I feel like every mid-tier Big Ten team does this and it's so so lame. Shoutout to the original poster for the, "granted this wasn’t a big game since we won:" line. I laughed.

I hope they don’t get too clever with the LED lights. It’s an annoying new trend that stadium operators randomly turn off the stadium lights simply because they can. This is doubly true for us because you wouldn’t see the crowd which is the entire point of the white out.

Imagine if it were possible to somehow make the field look darker than the crowd in an intro or something to emphasize the sea of white

They really just need a new track list of music. What they have now is extremely old and washed. Idk how they don't change this annually,

Had a KO return for a TD that was called back right after halftime for a horrible holding call, too. Also had the crucial 3rd down run on the end around to get the first down and clinch the game as well, although I think he got hurt on that play.

Yes that was it! I don't even think they made it the whole game before discontinuing it.

Haha I rememeber that too and thinking that there is no way that's going to catch on.

I definitely think the music needs to be changed. The music needs to be more hype for the entrance. It’s such an easy thing to change.

The problem is everyone will have a different opinion on what the best music to play is. The older folks will want AC/DC and 70's/80's rock. Millenials/Gen Z will want rap bangers from the last 20 years or early-mid 2000's rock. Someone will always be unhappy lol All I'm gonna say is one of the most popular if not the most popular crowd moment in Whiteout history was set to Mo Bamba. Give me Big Rings or Hard in Da Paint or something lol

I wouldn’t care if this was posted every day. Things need to change. It’s all fine but it’s gotten so stale. I love AC/DC, update the music tho. It’s for the players, not us. Frankly, it’s the hype man that needs to go and MAKE SOME NOISE

I think they should play Zombie Nation and Mo Bamba a few more times. Nothing excites me like hearing the same songs played over and over.

The Mic Man is just so bad. I understand the cheerleading squad wants to be integrated into game day more, but oof it's rough. I don't think I have a huge problem with anything else. Surely some things can be improved, but the Mic Man is the only truly dumb part of the pre game experience imo.

I also think that the music and some of the other pregame stuff has grown stale and lacks creativity. That said, pretty sure there won't be any shortage of noise Saturday night. If the weather cooperates, that will only help matters. Arguably, one of the biggest White Out games in awhile. The fans will be bring it. I hope the team feeds off the energy and smashes Oregon.

For sure someone will always be unhappy. I actually listen to both rock and rap so I don’t car either way. I would just like for it to flow better I guess and be more hype.

The worst part is the playing of both the cheery upbeat and emotional pop songs. Is Since U Been Gone by Kelly Clarkson a good song? Sure. Pink Pony Club is also a catchy song as well. But do either of those belong at a football game? I'm not sure about that. I get that you have to have songs for the girls play too but come on now, this is FOOTBALL, a gladiator-esque sport, not Champs Downtown. More rock bangers, more aggressive rap songs (here comes the BOOM), let me hear AC/DC, KISS, 50 cent and DMX instead of Olivia Rodrigo, Taylor Swift and Chappell Roan I understand this will never happen but a man can dream

^ well put. "Flow" is the word I was looking for. It's been a couple years since I've been at a game, but I'd best describe the music/PA accouncer as "choppy." Felt like the entry was 4 songs that just played and then randomly stopped for the other to start lol

Ngl, I can imagine Penn State running out to Many Men and that would be SO HARD

Bring back Welcome to the Jungle/Crazy Train right before Zombie nation comes on. I feel like “In The Air Tonight” is too slow and not loud enough until the drums hit.
