The Fairgrounds smelled like a weed festival yesterday

Not sure I remember it ever being as bad as it was yesterday. Actually, the entire area around the stadium reeked of marijuana most of the day. My kids kept asking me what the smell was all day. Games used to be a family-friendly environment but yesterday definitely was not. I don't care if you smoke in your own home, but it is just plain trashy to do it in public around kids and families. There's no common courtesy anymore.

As one who smoked plenty in my youth I completely agree. Here’s what gets me. I’m out on the road for work all week every week. I see A LOT of stuff. But literally every single day I’m near multiple cars with the smell of weed pouring out. Sometimes it’s in traffic and strong enough to smell with the windows closed. Other times it’s cars driving by while I’m loading or unloading. I don’t understand how there is such high tolerance in allowing this when there is such a low tolerance for alcohol while driving. As for places like tailgates it’s just selfishness. If I still smoked and wanted a little weed while I’m tailgating I’d take a vape.

Not saying it was right, but alcohol is rampant, and now available inside WB. Out of the two, which is worse? Again, I’m not advocating smoking weed around the stadium.

The environment is no different. What about 30 years ago when cigarette smoke was everywhere? Also I promise the drunks are way less family friendly than the stoners. I agree it’s extremely inconsiderate to smoke in public. Just pushing back on the idea that it’s any less family friendly than it’s ever been.

One is worse, and the other is just plain annoying if you’re not doing it.

Alcohol is worse than weed.

It’s a lot less family friendly these days. More weed, about the same amount of alcohol, a lot more cussing, loud vulgar music, girls who don’t know the boundaries of dressing nice and dressing like hookers, and the list goes on and on. That said, it’s never going back to the way it used to be.

Nice straw man between something that is completely legal and one that is illegal but I'll play. Yesterday the weed was absolutely worse because nobody came along and poured Bud Light down my five and eight year kids' throats, whereas they were constantly exposed to weed smoke for hours. I couldn't tell you what the people two spots down were drinking because I couldn't smell it or drink it, but I could absolutely smell the marijuana wafting around the area.

Probably is. I’ve just accepted it. I also have no room to talk as I’ve gotten much worse with over the last 10 years myself.

I’ll agree with you, but weed and alcohol have long been a part of college football. Were when I was at USC 77-82, weed was smoked in the student section, but not to the point of an overwhelming amount. Plus ‘skunk weed’ has a more unpleasant aroma these days.

I’ve been going since 2001 and to me it feels way more family friendly than it used to be. Maybe just depends where you tailgate.

You mean from the cars driving around and tailgate speakers blasting profanity and the n-word constantly? Yes.

Definitely but not the smell. It's extra strong these days and smells awful to those not doing it. There's no hiding that smell these days.

No police presence? I’m guessing not? I’ve parked in the NGA for years now, and I can’t think of but a few times I’ve got a whiff of the ‘Devil’s lettuce’’.

My son and I were leaving the condo on the way to the stadium and smelled it all the way into the stadium including near the cockabooses. I don’t remember that previously.

Plenty of cops in the fairgrounds but not sure they care anymore. Also saw several cars driving right by State Troopers who never even looked twice. I've parked in the old Farmer's Market, the NGA, and the fairgrounds over the years and never has it been as bad as it was yesterday. Just overwhelming.
