What has changed this year compared to past years? This has been going on for years, why all of the attention all of a sudden?

Making up the rules as they go.

fuck the big 12. This is horseshit. Changing the rules as we go. What an unserious thing to do. What’s the fine for purposely lying and making an institution and fan base look bad. Just $25K. Seems fair.

I can see opponents trying to nail us in the wallet by chunking from their sections.

This is the dumbest sh*t ever. I don't care how much faith you have in our general ability to make this stop, but there's no way it will. I guarantee there will be at least one dumbass who won't get this message (or just won't care, or even be an opposing fan taking advantage of this) and we're gonna be screwed going forward. There is no way to police this to the extent that it 100% stops.

Kansas has already set the blueprint. Visiting team can get Tech penalized by having visitor coaches drop a knife on the field and then blame Tech for it.

Can you buy that much chicken wire for 100K?

So gay. We are going to have to end up banning tortillas in the stadium due to this.

That's completely absurd. $100,000 for a flour tortilla thrown as a fun tradition and they're changing conference rules on a whim in the middle of a game week, mid-season. Horseshit. I wish we could have an opportunity to handle this on our own, but maybe that has been offered and we didn't do a good job of it. I can understand fining for literally anything else, but aside from a handful of the biggest bitches the world has ever seen, it's not a problem at all and the media and fans have embraced it. Hopefully fans get the point and keep them in the stands. Not that hard to quit making it about yourself and still have a good time by throwing them up instead of out.

Placing netting around the entire concourse MAY stop it, but I think it will just make the field ugly, and idiots will find new ways to be stupid. Namely the students.

Yep. Keep them in the stands. It’s not hard.

Not going to lie — I was a student from 2009–2013 and never threw a single tortilla. My parents talked about it from their time at Tech in the 90s, but honestly, I think the tradition’s a bit overblown. I don’t remember it being nearly this widespread back then. You can go back and watch old games on YouTube — it just wasn’t every single fan doing it like it is now. BNK last year really blew the tradition up. I appreciate it for what it is, but it’s gotten out of hand. At this point, I think it needs to stop — at least during the game. The “just one at kickoff” idea won’t work; there’ll always be a few drunk fans who don’t care. Maybe keep it for post-game only if we have to keep it at all.

You could make the netting retractable, like the FG netting. But that won't happen midseason.

From the visitor section up top or just throughout the stadium? They’d be pretty easy to spot on camera peppered around the stadium. Also from what I saw at the game Saturday the tortillas that continued to be thrown after the first penalty were coming from student sections. It is what it is. No way that $100,000 fine is enforced IMO.

I want to know if this is true for all stadiums. If so much as a piece of ice hits one of our players it needs to be a penalty and a 100k fine

Might as well start throwing pocket knives in place of those dangerous tortillas? Yormark and his conference cronies have gone of the rails.
