THEORY: Every SEC team should have a neutral site game with one of its permanent rivals.

School A School B Neutral Site Venue Capacity

Alabama Tennessee Atlanta Mercedes Benz 75,000

Texas Oklahoma Dallas Cotton Bowl 80,000

Georgia Florida Jacksonville EverBank 67,838

LSU Texas A&M Houston or New Orleans NRG Stadium or Superdome 72,220

Kentucky South Carolina Charlotte Bank of America Stadium 74,867

Auburn Vanderbilt Nashville Nissan Stadium 69,143

Arkansas Missouri Memphis Independence Stadium 65,000

Ole Miss Mississippi State Jackson Veterans Memorial Stadium 60,492

This assures every SEC team a 'bowl game' experience versus a traditional rival. Some caveats:

Attempts to keep in-state rivals home/away with exception of Ole Miss/Miss State. Jackson was a traditional site until 1990.
Jackson, MS would need to put forward plans to expand stadium by 10,000 seats
Bama/Tenn in ATL? Or, Nashville. But, where do you put Auburn/Vandy?
I’ve been saying this since the beginning of the nine game schedule discussion over two years ago. This makes total sense and allows everyone to make a lot of extra money with the neutral site game.

Not for me. College football should be an on-campus game until the post-season.

3. Play that game in Bermuda in hopes both of those programs go missing

Yeah, but... the GA/FL thing is here to stay and, if it truly a recruiting challenge like Kirby says, let's level the issue across the board.

I think that once we get to neutral site games between Kentucky vs South Carolina or Auburn vs Vandy, we've really lost the plot.

Should be Bama/Auburn in Birmingham Vandy/Tenn in ATL

UGA is the dumbest P5 program in the country for playing our biggest rival in their home state every year. It’s why we deserved so many years in pergatory, our boosters caused it because they valued their fall vacation more than winning or respecting the coaches wishes to move the game home and home, as it should be. I seriously doubt you would convince championship programs like Alabama be this stupid. However, with NIL programs that need money, and everyone does, may consider it for funding. Our ADs wouldn’t even use the so called excess money earned from the game to pay for things like indoor practice facilities, which Richt begged for until he finally gave up in his later years. Remember all the years of touting our programs savings ? Now there’s no choice they have to use the money for NIL. I’ve never trusted the true dollar comparison though between playing in Jacksonville vs home and away bc they always fudged the numbers in favor of Jacksonville. The real issue has always been with donors forcing it on the program holding the coaches and our programs success hostage.

We have dominated this game with Dooley and with Smart, where it is played has nothing to do with it.

I’m a GA/FL home & away absolutist converted to a Jax/WLOCO absolutist - I’ve seen the light. Jax is awesome, St. Simon’s or Amelia is awesome, it’s a CFB tradition, and money talks. Game ain’t moving.

Yeah, but if you make everyone do it, it takes some of the sting out of Jax.....since some consider that as a bad deal for UGA

Yep, with CFB tossing traditions out the window left and right.....you would think people would want to hold on to those last few neutral site rivalries.

I'm about to contradict myself. I'm in favor of on-campus college football... yet I've always been supportive of neutral site games between Georgia-Florida, Texas-OU, and Army-Navy. I'm definitely a traditionalist in that sense too.

I’ve thought about this too. Makes sense. Every team gets 4 true home, 4 true road games, and 1 neutral site where each school gets 50/50. But they don’t ever ask us 🤷‍♂️

Yeah, I did not think that was what you were advocating. I was more addressing TouchofSilver....and the thought of getting rid of Jax. Luckily he has converted so I can still like his post. 😁 The get rid of Jax crowd grinds my gears. Wachovia parking lot for all of them.

Wouldn’t we be tied with Oklahoma for dumbest P4 program then? They play their biggest rival in their home state every year. I actually didn’t read this whole diatribe…you lost me after the first sentence.

Play Bama Auburn in Birmingham like it was for a long damn time. Then, play Vandy-UT in Nashville at Vandy every year. It won’t matter.

I hate neutral site games. But OU is closer to Dallas than Texas and probably has more alums in Dallas than Texas. So at least it makes some sense.
