Sherrone has a massive offseason ahead of him. MAJOR overhaul is needed this offseason. I hope they don’t go into the offseason and say “well we went 9-3 with a young team and we are close”. No this team went 9-3 because this schedule is a bunch of cupcakes.

I love you, JJ. But try a lot harder to not be a complete and utter jackwagon.

Agreed. You shouldn’t compare a good HC to a bad one. Bad comp, well said.

Well I don’t think Purdue’s game was on him. And it definitely wasn’t because they won.

Yeah, funny to think that New Mexico may end up being Michigan’s second best victory. Seriously weak schedule.

Mike, when did Jim Harbaugh or Nick Saban or Andy Reid or many, many other wildly successful football coaches give informative or self-introspective pressers heavy on details and light on platitudes? A few guys do, the vast majority do not. Of all the criticisms which could be leveled at Sherrone, this one seems to me like a nothing burger. If he speaks in platitudes and always looks to shift blame when dealing with players and staff, or is incapable of self-introspection, that’s one thing. If he throws specific guys under the bus in post-game pressers, or acts classlessly towards opponents, that’s not good either. Talking in coach speak at pressers—pretty irrelevant to a coach’s overall success.

I’m old enough to remember 2017-2020 when everyone made the same complaints about Harbaugh’s press conferences after a number of demoralizing losses and/or uninspiring wins.

This team actually appears to be worse than last year's team in every facet except the QB scramble and a couple bootleg roll out throws.

I think the 2024 team beats this year’s team. I don’t care what the record says Michigan is worse than last year

I agree with this 100%. There are plenty of things that make me question if Sherrone is the right guy. Press conferences is not one of them. Neither is sideline demeanor. As you said, the vast majority of coaches in all sports aren't going to say anything in a press conference. They aren't going to roll people under the bus. They aren't going to tell you specifics of how they will fix things (hell, the vast majority of the population wouldn't understand a thing they said if they got into the details about fixing stuff).

This is why so many posts about people's "eye tests" showing them that the team is bad or Sherrone is a bad coach or whatever are so easily dismissed...

Even if this was true (it’s not), missing three first round picks and another guy who would have been a first rounder except for injury and is playing in the NFL makes this an apples to oranges comparison. We are absolutely paying the price this year for several years of checked out recruiting.
