UCF Football is in a dire state

UCF Football is about to have 3 consecutive losing seasons. UCF has never had 3 consecutive losing seasons in Div. I-A/FBS football history going back to 1996. The last time UCF Football had 3 losing seasons was Div. II in the early 1980s. Scott Frost is about to have another losing season on his record with 2017 being the lone winning year in his career. Scott has to prove he can win college football games without McKenzie Milton. Scott without KZ is looking worse than Gus without Cam Newton. TMo has been at the helm of this downward spiral in UCF Football and athletics in general. The TDT money and record donations have resulted in nothing positive on the field. Something needs to be done. The status quo is not working and UCF is just a losing operation.

Nothing is going to change at the AD level when you have a President that doesn’t care about UCF athletics. We are getting Genshafted.

You should change the subject line to “UCF Athletics is in a dire state.” This isn’t just a football problem.

Because we get 5 wins this year, it’s probably good to expect that next year and then we’ll just be getting what we expected!

Part of this is due to the current state of college football. In most cases the schools with $$$ will be able to buy success (see Texas Tech and BYU). The schools with less resources will put together a run occasionally, but lose their best players to the highest bidder. It will be difficult for us to dominate a conference like we've done in the past no matter who the coach is.

CFB has changed. HS recruiting is dead. We’d rather spend money on players that have college film.

This is what concerns me the most, I’ve seen 0 recruiting momentum or anything to be excited about looking into next season.

CFB has changed. High School recruiting is dying. A lot of schools are moving away from it because of the cost for unproven players with no college film. UCF is getting guys they like that won’t cost much because they’ll spend all of their budget in the portal. It is what it is now.

The Dungeon Preseason: 3-5 wins are expected, a 6 win season would be great and overachieving, we're rebuilding. The Dumbgeon Now: OMFG, we're going to meet everyones expectations!!! The program is dead!!!

Our strategy is that HS recruiting is dead. The rest of the Big 12 have almost full recruiting classes except for the 2 places with coaching uncertainty.

My low expectation was 6-6 and a bowl game. Oklahoma St is no guaranteed win. They put 30 points on Baylor and our lousy offense but up 3 against Baylor. That game is 50-50. Looking like another 4-8 year to me. We better get our act together because we are not guaranteed a spot in the Big 12 when the next TV contract is renewed with our last place TV ratings and our G5 talent level team.

They all think that this is just a first year growing pain while totally ignoring the fact that Frost hasn’t had a winning season as a coach in 8 years. It’s as if we just hired some up and coming HC who killed it at the G5 level but needs another year win at the P4 level.

Yeah i think most books had over/under 5.5 total wins. Subjective guesstimate IMO going into 2025 was 3-4 so looking about there as well. Its tough as hell especially with UCF teasing a potential win last night to a 7-2 B12 team but the Baylor outcome/effort is a tell tale of first year new development challenges for a predominantly new roster/culture that is attempting to be facilitated by a new staff. 6 wins, bowl appearance in this first year of Frost 2.0 would have been pretty huge but 4 to maybe 5 wins likely remaining still feels like positive change for a head coach who cares to be at UCF. That said, 2026 has to be a meaningful step forward and 6 wins might not be a high enough wins total benchmark.

Let's see who UCF signs this portal season as yes, with the quick scraps UCF signed last winter, it was easy to predict UCF's low win total this season so hopefully this go around it will be better.
