🔥Updates on Mike Norvell's future and where the program is headed (10/19 5:30p ET)

We'll keep updating this thread as news, nuggets and viable rumors come our way. 10/19 @5:30pm: Been told that Michael Alford didn't fly back with the team in the early AM but is flying back now. This is another reason why we probably won't hear anything until tomorrow. I assume he'll want to be in town when there's potentially a major announcement involving FSU athletics. 10/19 UPDATE: Sources have told On3 that momentum continues to build from Florida State decision makers to make a move. A change does not appear to be coming on Sunday, but the situation is extremely fluid. The Seminoles are on the bye week before hosting Wake Forest on Nov. 1. The staff is back in the office following the loss to Stanford. There is a 7:30 a.m. team meeting on Monday morning, and the team is scheduled to move into the Dunlap Football Center on Monday night. Sources have speculated that the all-in cost to fire Norvell and his staff and make the next hire is in the $100 million range. -Pete Nakos 10/19 @ 1pm - As reported by On3's Pete Nakos earlier today, Florida State's decision makers have been in contact today to discuss the future of the football program and what to do with Mike Norvell. The buzz we are hearing is that a decision has probably been made to let Norvell go and it should become official within the next 24 hours. Keep in mind that nothing is official yet, but it's hard to imagine what would happen at this point to change this current course. Stay tuned...

Good man, mediocre coach. Wish him the best…elsewhere.

Has to be done. No way around it. $55M is chump change compared to the damage that has and will be done to our beloved brand.

He’s a loser (as an coach) and should have been fired week 6 last season. What a huge waste and step backwards for the program. Somehow his legacy will be “the only coach worse than Willy Taggart”.

Bring back Jimbo! He’s the only one that can fix this mess.

It's just a shame this is where we are. VERY disappointing. It had to be done. But it's not like that guarantees some magical solution. And even IF things improve, it will take time. Just sucks right now as a lifelong Seminole fan and 40 year season ticket holder.

How realistic is Franklin? Does he have any FL ties? Prior relationships with anyone at FSU?

My concern with Franklin is he can’t win the big games and he doesn’t have recruiting ties in Florida. I’d prefer to bring back Jimbo who knows how to build a championship roster, has won big games, and is also Nole blooded.

Norvell is part of the problem, but it seems bigger than just him. Whether they dump him now or in a few more weeks after more Ls, I couldn't care less. FSU nation should want to know how they are going to fix it, and that plan involves a lot more than just who replaces him. And by the way, Alford endorsed Norvell's strategy of rebuilding the roster every year with transfers and doubled down on Norvell's contract without seeing HS recruiting and player development step up where it needed to be. That was a mistake. Can we trust Alford to fix it?? While he spends money on stadium upgrades, the product on the field is a one-hit wonder. One season. One game........

Should’ve been done after the Florida loss last season

Yes, he did so well after Jameis left (.500 ACC record) and really crushed it at aTm.

He won a playoff game last year.

I read you. But 1-15 in the ACC for the past two years is not sustainable. The nightmare is already here. One can only attempt to change the nightmare or continue living it.

So it’s looking like two of the big three in Florida, will have job openings. Crazy times.
