Franklin is 1-14 (last 15 games) vs top 10 opponents.

So this might be dubbed the “choke” bowl because of these coaches?

I think this game is about 50/50 as they come, but I think the Ducks are the better team. I don't know that either outcome is an upset, although I'd prefer to be wrong have have the Duckies be sad.

This is not a legit upset if you ask me. Depending on how you ask, Penn State is overrated at #3 in the country. Oregon comes in at #6, and depending on who you ask, they should be rated higher. The only "upset" that would come from this matchup would be that Oregon went into Happy Valley and took one from Penn State. Other than that, this game is a lot closer than the media is making it out to be. #FightOn

So, does this make it a trap game?

Oregon absolutely will win. Franklin can’t beat ranked teams and Penn State’s offense is anemic despite the final scores

This is a must win for Franklin

Was hoping for a Penn State win but leaning more towards the Quacks. Penn State D will need to step up to get the win.

Wouldn’t be much of an upset, if any. I’m still picking PSU.

Are there rumblings in State College?

Clearly Franklin is not among the elite coaches that have walked college football….but, in fairness, he has had to play some REALLY loaded, talented teams in those losses while usually fielding less-than-equal teams. It’s not easy upsetting Top5 teams late in the season. I don’t think he did as bad as Lanning, losing a game 34-8 at halftime, LOL. .

This is just the last number of seasons at PSU. Going back to 2016, their preseason rankings have been #2, #7 twice, #8, #10 twice and 3 unranked. That’s not too bad of talent.

Yes, they get good talent….but I doubt the upper 4*/5* guys that Ohio State and Michigan get, who comprise most of PSU’s Top5 losses. Historically, their QB spot hasn’t exactly shined. Penn St. preseason ranking usually come from very good 10-2, 9-3 seasons…..often just losing to OSU and/or Michigan, maybe an Iowa when they were good. .

Lanning has only beaten one ranked team on the road, Utah in 2023 and they went 8-5 that year. Lanning obviously beat PSU in the CCG last year, but true road games against top opponents don't inspire confidence for either side imo

Yeah that record gets blown out of proportion. It's much harder to beat a top 10 team when you are usually not a top 10 team. I bet like 90% of those games he was ranked lower than.

This is Penn State's superbowl with all the narratives. I think they will win.

If Oregon does win, it's not really a big upset is it? I'm no fan of the zeros, but they do have a good team.

Would love to see Oregon lose and have that loss create some cracks within their locker room. With the way they "build" rosters up there, sometimes all it takes is a loss or two for the malcontents to start making waves and creating tension. They have living proof of this concept on their roster right now. It would be amazing to see him get minimal snaps in this game and start fking with their chemistry, as he did at SC.

IMO Oregon has the better roster and deeper talent. Penn St has the better, more experienced QB but Oregon’s QB is more physically talented. Not having that TE from last year to bail Allar out is going to hurt PSU. But they’ve got the home field, and UO is flying 3,000 miles. Pick ‘em game to me

I think Oregon wins. Both are paper tigers but I believe Oregon has better talent. Allar sucks despite the media's desire to pump him up. He's nothing without #44!

Wouldn’t be much of an upset imo. Oregon is very good and Franklin struggles to win the big games until proven otherwise.
