We now see why Josh Pate picked Bama for NC

When Alabama plays motivated and full of passion and effort like they did this past Saturday, we can see why so many people (that saw preseason practice) raved about this team. We have plenty of talent, both experienced and young, and are in excellent physical condition. Lots of good looking athletes on both sides of the ball. The potential is there to make a CFP run **if** our coaches and players can maintain their preparation and execution the rest of this season. I'm afraid to get my hopes too high until I see how they play against Wisconsin (no let down) and Georgia (potential top 5 team).

Easy big boy. It was ULM. Let’s see how they do over the next few games. Sure, they may take off but they were very inconsistent last year.

Talent everywhere. No doubt. What we need to continue to see is that level of energy, passion and effort. Because it will get tough again to execute on both sides of the ball as well as this past Saturday was.

Don’t wanna be Debbie Downer here but I still think we have a lot of concerns. We have good skill people, but I still think we’re pretty average at the line of scrimmage. We couldn’t break any long runs against Monroe until the very end of the game. I really want DeBoer to work out and be here. But our schedule is absolutely brutal. I look at our schedule and then I look at where our weaknesses are on the field and on the coaching staff and well…… I’m still very concerned. Last night was nice though. It didn’t matter how bad the opponent was the guys seemed excited to be playing and put forth effort. That felt much better.

IMO, we're likely losing 1-2 more games in regular season due to inconsistency issues. I was just saying that we have the *potential* to put a very good season together and go to CFP if the preparation and execution are there the rest of the way.

I’m with you. But I refuse to say we are gonna lose any games. It may happen but I’m not gonna predict it

I get what you’re saying. I get what the naysayers are saying. It was against ULM so I get pump the brakes. That being said, I think it was Andrew that pointed out that there are certain things that shouldn’t matter what the competition is. The defense swarming to the ball. The offense running smoothly. Ty Simpson, relaxing, and completing passes. My main concern is keeping the guys focused and playing every week just like they played against ULM. Cleary, coach KD has been having trouble getting these guys prepared. Last year, we saw it against Vanderbilt. Then, it seemed to get better and then all of a sudden Oklahoma runs all over us. The way we looked against Florida State was just more of the same. I don’t know that I’ve ever seen such a radical change from week one to week two, even if it was ULM. Let’s see if we can do the same thing against Wisconsin. The competition should be tougher and let’s see we can beat them 73 to nothing.

I thought someone had a great quote in an another thread: "we play like a Jekyll and Hyde team but now at least we know we have a Jekyll (this year)". We've seen the Hyde too many times.

The next 6 games after the Wisconsin game will be the end all be all of the season for us. Because we’ll know if we’re a contender or not after those games. We Have to go 5-1 in those games at least. Coaching definitely has to continue to be a lot better both defensively and offensively. If our defensive line play doesn’t improve we’ll have to be able to outscore teams. The Vandy game is going to be a true test for our defense. If we can stop that offense then we might have something. RTR

Y'all know that saying "chill it was only UL Monroe" is not responsive to what OP posted right? Yeah it was a bad opponent but we beat them the way that a title-level team should and proved that we do have that gear. That level of performance is, in fact, exactly why Pate and others were so high on us after seeing us practice/scrimmage. Will we bring it every week? Who knows, but OP isn't guaranteeing that we will.

The hustle and passion difference wasn't the same team between the two games.

Precisely....and oh, BTW, Saban teams didn't do what this team just did against inferior opponents. Granted, the 2020 team probably could have picked their score had they played cupcake games.

I watched JPs podcast last night where he critiqued the latest AP poll rankings. He thinks FSU should be ranked higher than #10 for beating Alabama (at home and unintentionally validating Alabama as a quality team) and then said he still doesn't know if he'd have Alabama ranked at all yet. So which is it? If Alabama isn't a good team then why should FSU get rewarded for beating them at home? Or if Alabama is indeed a good team, then why should we have dropped 13 spots for losing on the road against a good team in a hostile environment. Lot of hypocrisy.

If you were at the game and saw what defense ulm was in, you’d change your narrative about the LOS. They were forcing the QBs to throw. Hence the perfect day for TY & the good day for Mack & Russell.

Total Hopium! The have road games ahead with quality opponents. The track record last season and this one is not good. The MUST prove they are worthy of a high ranking.
