This has been a play for years. Was pretty funny to hear the announcers cry about it. For a second I thought Herbstreit and his dumb dog were in the booth with all the whining on the broadcast

I don’t like the penalty for doing it. Shouldn’t it be on the defense to make sure they cover everybody and there’s 11 on the field? It’s like saying hey we’re the refs and we’re going to help you out with this.

The verbiage used in the explanation does not match what actually happened on the play.

I love that Matt Austin’s reasoning was that his body language suggested he was subbing. WTF does that mean?

We used to run that play in intramurals. If you’re a scholarship football player and it fools you, that’s on you.

It should've been a penalty. It went viral ten years ago when Michigan got called for it.
Not apologizing, though. Refs didn't call it, so good call.

If the defense can use the subbing rule to sloth run out d-linemen until the clock hits 2 seconds I think it’s fair for the offense to fake running off the field (and staying inbounds) and catch the defense not paying attention.
No rule broken, sorry ANALysts.

I’m interested to see if this was illegal by rule. Seems to be a gray area exposed. Unlike when A&M snuck Maziel on the field from the sideline before the ball was snapped. That did get flagged. Our player did not leave the field of play. It’s on the defense to account for all players.

So are “trick plays” and attempt to deceive?

I love shit like this in sports. Glad we’re finally back to playing like this. Joe C is definitely going to confessional first thing tomorrow morning.

I can say this now that we won, those officials were total dog shit all day, for both teams
