I’d kick the tires with Lane and Franklin and make them tell me no. Then I’d back up the brinks truck and make them do it again. If that doesn’t work I’d offer Hartline at OSU and strongly suggest he keep the defensive staff intact

Any list that includes weak ass human beings like Rhett should be pissed on and disposed of. You want more of this garbage (last 20 years of incompetent leadership and decision making, management), go the Rhett/Dilly route. Sounds like the losers that extended Gus getting out over their skies again. THAT was the decision that has caused the MOST suffering for this program, thanks Leath, Gogue, Harbert and a truly pathetic BOT at the time. That was a group that knee capped themselves. The tiny fragments of the state/AU people that like him for this level job are regularly wrong when it comes to football generally, provably so, especially by now (this is mostly bc they aren’t witnessing good football at the earlier ages due to, mostly, lack of tradition, history, demographics, etc. and as such they typically just never come around and/or stay ahead of the curve), but as importantly view things like the AU Head Football Coach through too political of lenses rather than just simply understanding pure competition. These decisions are more often made correctly by the football people in the state. Find them and listen to them. Do NOT listen to wannabe football people in wannabe football locales. IOW, Huntsville and SE AL, grab a chair. And never ever involve Montgomery. This is not hard. Don’t make it so. The key, as it has been for Auburn over my lifetime, is getting the decision making in the hands of the competent, the most prepared. Lowder kept us ahead. We’ve relied way too heavily on moronic academic and general goofdick types since. Not surprisingly, it hasn’t worked. Please shelve them all and let’s get it back going…
