What I'm hearing...

For a long time there has been a sense that Kentucky doesn't have an easy way out of the contract. I realize talking about this right now is going to be difficult because people aren't going to say things on the record and there are a ton of moving parts. Whatever is said in public, I have good reason to believe that in the last little while especially since the end of the Texas game it seems like there has been a change in the way sources are talking behind the scenes. And for the first time I now believe that it is likely that conversations are going to take place. Conversations that could very well lead to Kentucky having a new coach next season. I don't want to share more than that right now, but the bottom line that folks are saying to me is that they now believe that Stoops may be willing to have conversations regarding the details of the contract. If it happens I believe it would be mutual, agreeable, looks good for all sides.

I want to add that these folks seem to think the change seems to be more from Stoops' side than anything else.

I think there’s something to MJ saying that Stoops wants to be liked by the fan base. This would make sense.

Very winnable game last night thanks to the defense. First drive - gets stopped with two chances to gain a yard. OT ends the same way . Ugh

I’m not surprised, he literally blew his chance to turn the season around on 4th down in OT.

Your last sentence says it all. Stoops generating this and not Barnhart.

It would be awesome if Stoops can beat Tennessee, Florida, and Louisville on his way out.

That whole line about putting people in hard spots to make decisions and thanking fans was 100% a good bye

Hope so. As much as I feel like it’s time for the program to move on, I have a TON of appreciation for what he and his coaches have accomplished at UK. My hope is that he’ll be able to come back in the future to watch games and be appreciated, ala Rich Brooks.

Feels like waiting till the end of the season will put them in the rear view with other programs in the midst of coaching searches now. Unless we trust Mitch and co to conduct talks before the official firing of Stoops... Which seems like a non Mitch thing to do. Either way, I'm glad the Stoops era is coming to a close. I'll give him his flowers, he elevated my expectations, but he's overstayed his tenure by 3 seasons IMHO.

His tone was definitely much different postgame last night.

Said it in a thread earlier, but his comments last night made me guess that he was about to work something out with the university to make it easier on us. If he helps us out, he'll forever be loved here even with the train wreck it's been as of late.

You could tell last night his tone changed. Seemed resigned to the fact it's coming to an end.

If he did that, he wouldn't be leaving.

If he helps us out and goes out with some grace I will be the biggest Stoops revisionist supporter ever.

There was always absolute zero chance he was ever gonna come back if they had a 2 or 3 wins season. The hatred would be so much and the disdain and lack of support from EVERYBODY would be enough to make anybody just not wanna do it. Money ain’t everything. Quality of life and support matters. Nobody wants to coach when they know literally nobody else wants em there and they’re gonna start getting choked off on monetary funds.

I just hope the board will be willing to allow renegotiations and allow mark to leave 🙄

This is the best news we have had as wildcat fans in a really long time. I will be thankful for all he did for 10+ years, but it is very much time to go.

Thanks for checking out this free message board preview.
