It's not as easy as some type it out to be, is it?

Still here! In my defense, I was never one of the “arch should start” people. Just acknowledged Quinn had some pretty serious shortcomings. I don’t think I ever contended that he wasn’t the best option for us

Manning already maneuvers within the pocket and doesn't self sack. Stands tall and doesn't curl up into a ball and fall over when he feels pressure. The ball he threw down the sideline was a throw that Ewers couldn't make if his life depended on it. Manning's biggest issue today was throwing the ball too hard/inaccurate in the short passing game. I'll take that over a guy that plays scared and looks like he's about to cry on the sideline.

Ewers became elite in the short passing game and that's where Arch absolutely killed us with throws that even high school QBs should be expected to make. Not saying Ewers wins this game, but he had strengths that Arch currently clearly lacks. He needs to shore them up.

Now we know for certain why Quinn started for the last 3 years.

It’s crazy how both strengths and weaknesses are exact opposites.

That seems accurate.

The Quinn haters will never recant - ever: it’s part of their identity now. But since we’re throwing out hypotheticals, an average start from Quinn wins today. Doesn’t make him better than Arch in any meaningful way, but anyone with somewhat clear eyes will admit that the Quinn hate and the Arch hype were both out of control. Sadly, the hype around Quinn directly contributed to the vitriol against when he failed to meet expectations. Arch, now it’s your turn. All told, I think he will be fine. Tough spot for your first road start. Sark was part of the problem today as well, but that’s a different discussion.

Off the top of my head? The throw to AD Mitchell on 3rd and long from our own territory against Bama. Arch has his strengths, but saying Ewers never made that kind of throw is silly.

His biggest issue is just forcing everything. He looked like a pitcher that was over throwing instead of just relying on his mechanics and allowing things to happen naturally. Once again I'll take that over a guy that in year 3 looks like he has no concept of how to maneuver within a pocket. Or throw the ball down the field to his 1st round pick WR's.

Yes, Sark is very much part of the problem.

The pass to Wingo on the last drive was tough

Arch is a pitbull and plays the game the right way. Same as Sam. He was just too amped up and couldn't settle in and get in rhythm. Comparing that to a guy that started for 3 years is just idiotic.

Ha. That wasn't necessarily a criticism of Arch. Hearing from him in the text messages though.

No completely comprehend the point that is attempted to be made but is failing to do so terribly. First start on the road against the #1 team. Hell i remember Ewers at Home against TCU which was one of the worst performances from a QB Iv ever seen.
