2028 New England guard Derek Swartz adds Rutgers offer, recaps recent visit

Rutgers Basketball recently hosted a fast rising prospect from the New England area in Class of 2028 guard Derek Swartz out of Portsmouth, New Hampshire.
The 6-foot-5 shooting guard recently took a visit to campus back on August 2nd, where he spent the day with the staff and learned more about the program.
“I just visited a couple of weeks ago,” Swartz told The Knight Report. “I got a big tour of all the facilities and met the coaching staff. The staff was telling me how they have all the tools to get you better, how they are a family at Rutgers and stuff like that.”
Just a few weeks later, Swartz got in touch with the Scarlet Knights coaching staff and they ended up offering him a scholarship.

“I was given Rutgers coach TJ Thompson’s number,” said Swartz. “Shortly after I called the coach and he just let me know that he’s seen me play during the live period, loves my game and that I have a bright future.”
For now Rutgers is just one of three programs, joining Georgetown and Oklahoma State as the schools to offer Swartz. However they definitely won’t be the last, as Marquette has been showing a lot of interest recently.
As always, stay tuned for the latest on Rutgers Basketball and their recruiting efforts right here on The Knight Report.
