Last weekend, Rutgers Football played host to a long list of top ranked recruits from all across the country for the Norfolk State game.

One of the fast rising prospects that was on campus is Class of 2028 Bergen Catholic High School quarterback Trey Tagliaferri, who had a great time on the visit.

“I thought the visit and the atmosphere were great,” Tagliaferri told The Knight Report. “Also the facilities were amazing, I love the campus and the tradition that they have there. I loved seeing and speaking with coach (Kirk) Ciarrocca and (Greg) Schiano again and the knowledge and love for the game they have. I just love to talk football with them. Also, I was very impressed on how they took care of the recruits. I had an overall great experience on the day and loved the atmosphere. I just had a great time at the birthplace of college football.”

Following the visit, Tagliaferri added a new offer from Greg Schiano at the end of the visit.

“Coach Schiano’s main message was about what Rutgers is based on,” said Tagliaferri. “He told me about family, trust, and chop. It’s about being the best version of yourself. Family means forget about me, I love you. Trust means to believe in your teammates and CHOP means doing your job and the best you can on the field.”

At the moment, Tagliaferri also holds offers from Southern Miss, Syracuse and Wofford, but several other Power-Four schools are starting to show interest. So the Scarlet Knights getting in on him early should be considered a plus for the staff, but there’s a long way to go in this recruitment.
