Four-star defensive lineman Cameron McHaney is among the next crop of prospects to come out of the high school football powerhouse IMG Academy (Fla.) following the upcoming season. The Greenwood, Ind. native is also nearing his college commitment.

On Monday, the 6-foot-0.5, 315-pounder told On3 that he’s set to announce his decision on July 1. He will choose between Illinois, Indiana, Louisville, Purdue and Vanderbilt.

McHaney is the No. 395 overall prospect and No. 37 DL in the 2026 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 57 player in Florida.

The two-time state champion tallied 39 total tackles as a junior for IMG last season, according to MaxPreps. As he gears up for an important senior campaign, he’s also taking official visits as he works toward a decision.

McHaney has announced officials to each of his finalists aside from Louisville. Vandy is set for the weekend of May 30, with Illinois, Purdue and Indiana set to follow each of the following three June weekends.

IMG boasting another loaded roster this fall

The Ascenders are coming off a 7-2 season in 2024, where they finished as the No. 22 team in the nation and No. 4 team in Florida, according to the On3 Composite Rankings. Expectations will be high once again this fall in Bradenton, with players like McHaney expected to help carry the load.

A slew of blue-chip seniors are featured throughout the roster. Four-star EDGE Jake Kreul is the top-ranked member of the roster, checking in as the No. 38 recruit nationally. Four-star offensive tackle Keenyi Pepe (USC commit) and four-star safety Zech Fort (Georgia) are also top-200 prospects.

McHaney will be a part of a stout defensive line, manning the interior alongside four-star Preston Carey and others. Other top recruits on the roster include four-star interior offensive lineman Breck Kolojay, three-star IOL G’Nivre Carr, three-star safety Amari Jones, three-star safety Ksani Jiles, three-star tight end Kekua Aumua and a slew of blue-chip incoming juniors.
