4-star RB Jonathan Hatton Jr. sets commitment date

Cibolo (Texas) Steele four-star running back Jonathan Hatton Jr. made an early commitment to Oklahoma back in October 2023. At the time, he was just starting his recruiting process. A little over a year later, he decided to decommit and open things back up.
A rush of new offers came in, and Hatton has been considering a handful of schools in the past few months. Now, he tells On3’s Chad Simmons, he is ready to announce his commitment again on March 22.
On3’s No. 5 running back, Hatton is coming off a visit to Norman earlier this month and has also been fielding interest from Alabama, Ohio State and others. The Buckeyes have an official visit set with him in June.
It’s been Texas A&M who has been viewed as the favorite since his decommitment from OU, though. The Aggies are currently on top in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM).
“I’m going to go through the process, but out of my top schools is Texas A&M,” he told Simmons in December. “From Coach Elko to Coach Klein and of course Coach Troop, they have set the bar high and made it clear what the plan is for me in what they are building.”
The Sooners, according to On3’s Steve Wiltfong, feel like they’re also trending up with him after getting him on campus for their Future Freaks event. Whether it’s the Aggies, Sooners or someone else, we’ll get our answer in less than one week.
Hatton is coming off a junior season where he rushed for 1,147 yards and 14 touchdowns during the fall, gaining nearly 10 yards per touch. On3 ranks him as the nation’s No. 64 overall prospect and No. 7 player in the Lone Star State.
