One of the most coveted Lone Star State running backs in the 2025 cycle is set to come off the board later this month.

On Tuesday evening, Houston Atascocita four-star RB Tory Blaylock announced that he will commit on March 29. Earlier this month, he trimmed his list of top schools down to six, as Alabama, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon, Tennessee and Texas all made the cut.

Blaylock is the No. 290 overall prospect and No. 22 burner in the class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 45 player in Texas.

Oklahoma has emerged as the favorite for the 5-foot-10.5, 175-pounder, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM).

Oklahoma offered Blaylock nearly two years ago in August 2022. Since then, the Sooners have consistently pushed for the tailback. After taking multiple trips to Norman last year, he’s already been back for a Junior Day trip in 2024 and has been visited by Brent Venables and the OU staff.

Last month, Oklahoma recruiting insider Josh McCuistion logged a pick in favor of the Sooners landing Blaylock. As the blue-chipper continues to work toward a commitment, OU continues to stand ahead of the pack, currently owning an 82.3% edge in the On3 RPM.

“As for Blaylock, there’s also been considerable conversation about his relationship with DeMarco Murray,” McCuistion wrote. “The two seem very well connected and his repeat trips to Norman tells more than one source that Oklahoma has a lot of them momentum here.”

Blaylock discusses finalists

Blaylock spoke with On3’s Hayes Fawcett about what stood out with each of his six finalists:

Ohio State Buckeyes: “Great legacy and coaching staff.  I feel can build me into a better player and set me up for life after football.”

Oklahoma Sooners: “Coaching staff is like a family! Got a lot of love for coach Venables and Coach Murray. Coach Murray has been at the level of play I want to be at and I feel he can get me there and also build me up as a man off the field.”

Tennessee Volunteers: “Overall great place.  Coach Heupel is a great guy as well as a great coach and I feel the offensive schemes they run fit me very well.”

Texas Longhorns: “Texas has done very well at developing backs over the years and it’s a pattern of putting guys in the league. Coach Choice brings the energy every day and loves to put in work!!”

Oregon Ducks: “Oregon has always been my dream school growing up and it’s a blessing to have the option to go play for coach Lanning and coach Lock! I love what they’re building in Eugene and it’s something I can see myself being a part of.”

Alabama Crimson Tide: “Alabama is a place where you get everything you want and more getting coached by some of the best in the country. You get to play with the best talent in the country! Bama is really a special place.”
