Back in late February, Red Oak (Texas) four-star wide receiver Taz Williams Jr. announced his top 10 schools.

Among those in contention were: Alabama, Baylor, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, SMU, Texas and Texas A&M.

At that time, Alabama, Michigan, Ohio State and Texas A&M and USC were the schools he considered leaders in his recruitment. Each of those program has also already locked in an official visit with him.

USC (May 17-19), Ohio State (May 31-June 2), Texas A&M (June 6-8), Alabama (June 14-16) and Michigan (June 21-23) will all host him over the next couple months as he moves closer toward a commitment decision.

The in-state Longhorns have been on top for him, as he told On3’s Chad Simmons earlier this month. But he isn’t planning to commit this spring, instead planning to announce his decision in June or July.

Williams breaks down a few top contenders

On Wednesday, he spoke with On3’s Phillip Dukes during the Five-Star Flex show and broke down a few of his top 10 schools that are making a strong impression.

USC: Coach Simmons, he’s been recruiting me hard. And I talk to Coach Lincoln Riley, so I’m talking to both of them. And Coach when he came to my school, I talked to him for probably over an hour. We talk probablt every other day.

Texas A&M: I’m taking a visit with them on Tuesday for spring practice. I’ve been talking to them since the new staff got there. They came to my school pretty much as soon as they got the job and could visit, they were at my school. And it was my first offer, too.

Texas: I’ve been down there a couple times — well more than a couple. And I talk a lot with Coach Jackson.

Alabama: With Coach Sheppard, it’s like I said with Texas A&M. He came to my school and we talked for probably over an hour. We had a really good conversation, and he’s a real genuine dude. I like that about him.

Michigan: Coach Bellamy, I talk to him quite a lot. I wouldn’t say every day, but it feels like every day. And Coach Moore, the new head coach, I was already talking to him before he got the head coaching job. That’s easy right there,

Ohio State: That’s Wide Receiver U, everybody knows that. Coach Hartline, I’ve been talking to him for a while. I’ve talked to Coach Day, and it’s probably the best receiver school in the nation.
