Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco five-star defensive lineman Matayo Uiagalelei has announced his commitment to Oregon.

The On3 Consensus — a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies — has Uiagalelei as the No. 29 overall prospect and No. 4 defensive lineman in the country.

The only defensive lineman ranked ahead of Uiagalelei are Katy (Texas) Paetow Five-Star Plus+ defensive lineman David Hicks, Montgomery (Ala.) Carver five-star defensive lineman James Smith and Alabaster (Ala.) Thompson five-star defensive lineman Peter Woods.

He currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $211k. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.

The 2023 Ducks recruiting class ranked just outside of the top 10 of the 2023 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Ranking prior to the commitment of Uiagalelei. He is the third five-star commit in the class with Denton (Texas) Guyer safety Peyton Bowen and Palo Alto (Calif.) Menlo-Atherton five-star wide receiver Jurrion Dickey.

Uiagalelei also joins a recruiting class that has loaded up on front four talent with players like Chandler (Ariz.) four-star defensive lineman A’mauri Washington, Cypress (Texas) Cy Woods four-star defensive lineman Terrance Green, Englewood (Colo.) Cherry Creek four-star EDGE Blake Purchase, Peoria (Ariz.) Liberty three-star defensive lineman My’Keil Gardner, Layton (Utah) Layton Christian Academy three-star defensive lineman Tevita Pome’e, Eugene (Ore.) Sheldon three-star EDGE Teitum Tuioti and Visalia (Calif.) Central Valley Christian three-star EDGE Jaeden Moore.
