Five-star point guard Isaiah Collier of Marietta (GA) Wheeler High tells On3 he is down to a final four schools, Southern Cal, UCLA, Cincinnati, and Michigan.

Collier has taken official visits to Southern Cal, UCLA, and Cincinnati. On3’s No. 3 ranked player in 2023 says he will visit Michigan next week and plans to make a decision soon after completing that visit.

“I have a visit next week (July 28) to Michigan,” Collier told On3 “I will probably sit down and make my decision after that.”

Collier talks schools

Southern Cal: “They are in California, and they put people in the league. I see their guard development. Coach (Andy) Enfield coached at Florida Gulf Coast; that’s Dunk City right there. They get out in transition. They are getting players every year, and they are getting people drafted every year.”

Cincinnati: “The environment was great; the fans there are wild. The fan love is crazy, and that is definitely what I love about them. It was really cool. The coaching staff has been showing a lot of love. They came to my practices and stuff like that. Their whole coaching staff was at my first game. There is a lot of love with Cincinnati.”

Michigan: “There are definitely a lot of good guards going to Michigan right now. Juwan Howard is an NBA guy. They are getting players and are putting them in the league. I like how they play, and their playstyle and I’m looking forward to learning more about them.”

UCLA: “They’re definitely getting a lot of good players, and I like their play style. They got so many national championships out there; they’re a program that likes to win. And it’s California, a really great experience out there.”

Collier’s final thoughts

“I’m looking for a family program,” Collier said. “I want to go somewhere I can grow as a man a get an education too. I’ll be looking closely at the school’s system and how they run and play in the half-court.

“I am going to look at the academics of each school; I want to finish school and get a degree and a master’s, hopefully. I’ll look closely at the system of each school. I want to go to a place that will let me play and give me the freedom to do me. The system, the love, the coaches. I’m looking for a brotherhood, really, a family.”

Scouting report

“Isaiah Collier has a very strong frame. Plays with great balance and is able to take a bump when attacking the basket. Surveys the floor well, head up with a great pace. Never gets rushed. Excellent passer in the half-court. Plays well out of the pick and roll makes excellent reads and his passes are on target and on time. The jump shot is streaky at all levels. Puts a relentless attack on the paint and the basket. He has the quick-twitch and the toughness to be a good on-ball defender, quick hands. Collier elevates the play of those around him. He is vocal on the floor, calls his team in for huddles, and speaks up. Despite the jump shot woes, his ability to run a team is advanced.” – Jamie Shaw, On3’s National Recruiting Analyst
