Kanaan Carlyle, a 6-foot-3 combo guard out of Alpharetta (Ga.) Milton will announce his college decision on Wednesday, January 5th at 5pm ET, he tells On3.

Carlyle is the No. 15 prospect in the 2023 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is ranked as the No. 3 combo guard and the No. 1 player in Georgia.

The Georgia native cut his list to five schools in November – Baylor, Stanford, Kansas, Florida, and Auburn. However, Carlyle did not take visits to Kansas or Florida.

Kanaan Carlyle discussed each of the schools in contention in a previous interview with On3.

Baylor

“Just the way they play is amazing,” Carlyle said. “On defense, they play hard. Coach (Scott) Drew has that energy. The whole coaching staff is pretty cool. People speak highly about their program.”

Stanford

“I like how Stanford can open up opportunities outside of basketball,” Carlyle said. “When I’m done with basketball, just the opportunities I can have outside of it, working-wise. Like if I want to work in business. Just the opportunities I can have going to Stanford.”

Kansas

“They have such a long history,” Carlyle said. “Bringing up NBA players, the Paul Pierce’s of the world. Their player development has been good. The coaching staff is cool. Coach (Jeremy) Case calls me and checks in on me.”

Florida

“I like the way they play and how they use their guards,” Carlyle said. “The high ball screens they use and everything. It all fits what I’m about. It’s fun watching them play.”

Auburn

“Just the energy they have,” Carlyle said. “You’re not going to see too many head coaches in front of everybody take off his shirt and start dancing. You’re not going to see too many coaches doing that. That just speaks to Bruce Pearl himself. He’s close with his players. When I was on my visit, we were riding around campus and he was showing me around and everybody was saying ‘hello, Bruce Pearl’. Everybody knows him. It shows how close of a community it is at Auburn. They all love each other and they all love basketball.”
