Long Beach (Calif.) Warren five-star quarterback Nico Iamaleava had a big first half at the Polynesian Bowl. The Tennessee enrollee found Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman Five-Star Plus+ wide receiver and USC enrollee Zachariah Branch for a long touchdown, recorded a 58-yard run and then completed a huge pass to Phoenix (Ariz.) Pinnacle five-star tight end Duce Robinson.

Iamaleava sent a long throw down the left sideline and Robinson reached out to snag it. Robinson’s reception got his team close to the red zone and helped give them a 13-10 halftime lead.

A 6-foot-5.5, 195-pound signal-caller, Iamaleava is the No. 11 overall prospect and No. 5 quarterback in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 2 player in California.

On3 rates him higher than other recruiting services, according to the Industry Comparison. Per the 2023 On300, Iamaleava is the No. 1 overall prospect in the country.

According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, Georgia is leading for his commitment at 61.8%. USC has the next-highest odds at 30.2%.

RPM was released to the public in December. The On3 engineering group teamed up with Spiny.ai to create the industry’s first algorithm and machine learning-based product to predict where athletes will attend college.

It factors in machine learning, social sentiment, visits and historical trends. However, expert predictions are still a big piece of the RPM equation.

Nico Iamaleava and Duce Robinson On3 Scouting Summaries

The following are the On3 Scouting Summaries for Nico Iamaleava and Duce Robinson:

Iamaleava“High-upside signal caller who has the best physical tools among quarterbacks in the 2023 cycle as a high school prospect. Has one of the strongest arms in the cycle, generating considerable velocity on his throws in camp settings and on Friday nights. Tall with a slender build at round 6-foot-6, 195 pounds with a 10-inch hand. Has considerable room to fill out. Boasts a whippy throwing motion despite his longer arms. Effortlessly drives the ball downfield while targeting vertical routes. One of the better 7-on-7 quarterbacks we’ve seen in several cycles, highlighted by a dominant showing at Overtime’s OT7 event.

“A bouncy, fluid mover who doubles as a national-level volleyball player. Uses his twitchy athleticism to evade pass rushers and pick up yards on the ground. Still developing in terms of some technical aspects of the game. Plays in a high school offense that is heavily skewed towards quick passes and screens. Can continue to improve his overall consistency. Competitive player who embraces physicality and contact as a runner. Has done a very good job taking care of the football with just seven interceptions in three varsity varsity seasons. Will need to add polish at the college level but has immense physical upside.”

Robinson: “Jumbo athlete with a large catch radius who looks like one of the better tight end prospects over the last few recruiting cycles. Has outstanding statue and length at over 6-foot-6 and 230 pounds with a 6-foot-10 wingspan. Plays and moves like a receiver at that size. A smooth, fluid mover who showed continued improvement in top-end play speed as a junior, running away from defensive backs. Has one of the largest catch radiuses in the 2023 cycle and consistently wins in contested situations.

“Was the top pass-catcher at the Opening Finals prior to his junior season and created a considerable mismatch over the middle of the field. Turned in a very productive junior season with close to 1,000 receiving yards. Has an outstanding multi-sport profile as one of the nation’s top baseball prospects and also plays basketball. Will need to continue getting stronger to aid in blocking, but has the look of an elite tight end prospect with five-star upside.”
