Aaron Anderson injury update: ESPN reveals elbow issue for LSU wide receiver

As LSU struggles to find a real rhythm on offense against Ole Miss, they do so without wide receiver Aaron Anderson for stretches. Just before halftime, ESPN revealed the Tigers’ leading receiver is dealing with an elbow injury. Not what head coach Brian Kelly or offensive coordinator Joe Sloan needs at this juncture.
At first, the pain was viewed as too much to play. However, trainers putting on a brace changed things, and Anderson is out there on the field.
“LSU wide receiver Aaron Anderson strained his right elbow,” sideline reporter Molly McGrath said. “He was in visible pain and couldn’t lift that right arm. But when athletic training staff put a brace on the elbow, tightened it as much as possible — I’m told he will try to play through it.”
Right after McGrath’s update, Anderson caught a pass from Garrett Nussmeier on a crossing route. He now has the second-most receiving yards on the day, going for 12 on two receptions. Production certainly needs to pick up if LSU is going to win. But if nothing else, still having Anderson out there is a positive sign.
Anderson entered Saturday’s game with 21 receptions for 293 yards. The search for his first touchdown of the year continues, maybe coming in Oxford. LSU’s two biggest games, vs. Clemson and Florida, are where Anderson showed up the most — going for 99 yards and 75 yards, respectively.

Aaron Anderson hoping to be part of improved LSU offense
Thus far in 2025, the way LSU has won football games is completely reversed from normal. Everyone remembers the explosive offenses led by Jayden Daniels, only to be let down by brutal defensive performances. Kelly did a lot of work to rework the unit, mainly through DC Blake Baker.
Now, the opposite is true in Baton Rouge. Baker did a great job retooling the roster, mainly through the NCAA transfer portal. Four games into the season, there are very few complaints about where LSU’s defense sits. It’s the offense producing plenty of head-scratching moments.
Anderson certainly needs to be a part of the turnaround. LSU also worked on the wide receiver room through the transfer portal but Anderson returns after a productive 2024. His relationship with Nussmeier spans a few years now. Hopefully, the elbow injury is nothing serious in the final two quarters of play against an Ole Miss defense capable of giving up some big plays.
