Alabama is a top contender in the recruitment of Dunlap (Ill.) four-star tight end Mack Sutter. The Crimson Tide coaching staff is working hard to pull the 6-foot-5.5, 225-pounder out of the Midwest.

Sutter has already logged multiple visits to Tuscaloosa throughout his recruitment and also has a June official visit date locked in. On Tuesday, Alabama tight ends coach Bryan Ellis made his way to Illinois to spend some time with the blue-chipper:

Bama was already in a good spot with Sutter ahead of his spring trip at the end of March, but his latest trip helped vault the SEC juggernaut up another tier in his process. Ellis, head coach Kalen DeBoer and the Tide continue to make him feel wanted.

ā€œCoach DeBoer and I talked a little football, but he told me how he needed me there,ā€ Sutter told On3’s Chad Simmons. ā€œEverywhere I went on this visit, I felt like a big priority. They really showed me that I am a guy they need, that they care about me and that I am pretty big in what they are trying to do. That felt good to me.

ā€œThis visit was a lot more personable. They made me feel great. My parents felt it too. Alabama is up there for me. They check the boxes for me and they are in a pretty good spot.ā€

Alabama is set to receive Sutter’s last official visit on the weekend of June 20. He’s already logged OVs to Illinois and Ole Miss and will also see Ohio State and Penn State again before making his way back to T-Town. Alabama is trending to land Sutter, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.

Sutter is the No. 97 overall prospect and No. 6 TE in the 2026 cycle, according to theĀ On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 2 player in Illinois.

ā€œI will probably commit around the end of June,ā€ Sutter said. ā€œAll five schools on my list check a lot of boxes, so I will take the official visits and then go with my gut. I feel that will be the best way to make my decision.ā€

Alabama has Top-10 recruiting class thus far

While it’s perhaps been a slower start on the 2026 recruiting trail for Alabama, it has landed some big pledges. Of the six commits currently in the class, five are blue-chippers.

Marietta (Ga.) Sprayberry five-star cornerback Jorden Edmonds committed at the end of March and his stock has since risen. He’s now the No. 18 overall prospect and No. 2 CB in the nation.

ā€œIt came down to relationships, development and how I grew up following the program that helped me choose Alabama,ā€ Edmonds told On3. ā€œI am from Pittsburgh, but my brother was an Alabama fan, and when I moved down to Atlanta in the 7th grade, I started to follow Alabama.ā€

Edmonds and Gadsden (Ala.) City four-star Zyan Gibson form a formidable cornerback duo. Gibson, who pledged on Christmas Eve, is the No. 64 recruit and No. 11 CB overall.

February brought a pair of commitments from Gainesville (Ga.) four-star EDGE Jamarion Matthews and Atlanta Hapeville Charter four-star interior offensive lineman Chris Booker. Matthews is the No. 10 EDGE in the On300.

Muscle Shoals (Ala.) three-star defensive lineman Kamhariyan Johnson rounds out the class, which currently checks in at No. 6 nationally, according to the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.
