Practice 2 Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Game updates

3:40 p.m. CT: Practice is wrapped.

3:30 p.m. CT: Tennessee safety commit John Slaughter triggers downhill defending a short pass for what would’ve been a big hit had it been a full contact session.

3:22 p.m. CT: Suntarine Perkins runs down Alabama commit Bray Hubbard (playing QB) from behind for a would be sack. Extremely impressive play from Perkins who has been great in both practices.

3:16 p.m. CT: Mississippi is working on special teams. Mississippi State commit Jaylen Aborom has blocked two field goals.

2:46 p.m. CT: Williams gets Jones on the fourth and final rep with a nasty outside move. He’s an advanced route runner.

2:41 p.m. CT: WR-DB 1-on-1’s are underway

  • Jeleel Fleming with a nice PBU in the endzone
  • Ole Miss On300 commit Ayden Williams flashes his high end route-running in breaking off a comeback for a completion.
  • Southern Miss commit Javieon Butler beats Miss. State commit Jaylen Aborom getting vertical and coming down with an over-the-shoulder grab
  • Best on best matchup as Ayden Williams goes up against Miss. State commit Kelley Jones. Jones gets a pick on an underthrown ball on the first rep. Williams wins the second by creating separation in an out route. Williams makes a play on a jump ball on their 3rd rep. Those two look to be among the top prospects in Mobile.

2:22 p.m. CT: Mississippi is currently warming up in position groups. The defensive back group has several big safeties and corners including Mississippi State commits Kelley Jones and Jaylen Aborom, Florida State commit Quindarrius Jones and Tennessee pledge John Slaughter. They’re certainly not lacking for size.

2:20 p.m. CT: Back out here at South Alabama’s practice fields for Wednesday’s second practice. I’ll be watching the Mississippi team this afternoon.

10:52 a.m. CT: Practice is wrapped for the morning.

10:49 a.m. CT: Auburn RB commit Jeremiah Cobb is showing some juice in getting to the perimeter. He looks like the top back for the Alabama team with his burst and versatility.

10:47 a.m. CT: Florida commit Kelby Collins has kicked out to DE and is creating some disruption off the edge. When he turns it on, it’s tough for the Alabama OL to block him.

10:10 a.m. CT: Alabama is working on special teams now. Tennessee OL commit Vysen Lang is shagging the kicks and just returned one, drawing a laugh from the team.

10:09 a.m. CT: Watching Alabama go through pass skeleton. Clemson QB commit Christopher Vizzina hits Tennessee running back commit Khalifa Keith down the seam. Penn State safety pledge Dakaari Nelson showing some range in closing in a pass over the middle.

9:54 a.m. CT: Peter Woods is lining up at defensive end and dominating as a pass rusher. Very impressive display of quickness and ability to convert speed to power. In the backfield almost every play. Showed some dip as well.

9:44 a.m. CT: Michigan State commit Stanton Ramil has had some nice blocks on inside drills, showing physicality as a run defender and movement to the second level. He’s working at left tackle and had a nice block against Florida State commit Keldric Faulk.

9:33 a.m. CT: Auburn CB commit Jacorious Hart draws praise for his effort in run support in a pursuit drill. Hart has good size at around 6’2 and is the biggest corner on the Alabama team.

Alabama commit Jahlil Hurley and Tennessee commit Rickey Gibson were on initial rosters but aren’t participating in the game. Alabama working on inside drills. Clemson commit Peter Woods shows his burst and quickness to knife through the line for a TFL. He’s been in the backfield every play thus far. Very disruptive along the interior.

9:26 a.m. CT: Alabama is warming up in position groups. It’s a foggy, muggy morning in Mobile but the sun is starting to come out. Looks like a warm December practice.

9:02 a.m. CT: Back out at South Alabama’s practice fields for the first practice of a two-a-day. Alabama is at the South Alabama practice fields, while Mississippi is practicing inside the stadium. I’ll be watching the Alabama team this morning.
