AP Poll Top 25 revealed following Week 12 of college basketball season

The latest AP Poll Top 25 rankings were revealed following a wild Week 12 of the college basketball regular season.

There were some shake ups in the rankings, including the top 10. As the season tells us all the time, no one is safe!

Let’s dive into the latest AP Poll after Week 12 of the college basketball season.

1. UConn

Nothing new here for UConn as the Huskies dominated their way to a 99-65 win over Xavier. The win improved UConn to 19-2 overall.

In the win, Tristan Newton had 22 points, four rebounds and four assists while Donovan Clingan had a nice night as well. He finished with 18 points, eight rebounds and two assists.

2. Purdue

Purdue kept it rolling once again with wins over Michigan and Rutgers this past week. The Boilermakers dominated the Wolverines 99-67 before heading to their house of horrors in Piscataway.

However, Purdue would not fall victim to another Rutgers upset. This time, the Boilermakers controlled the pace in a 68-60 win to improve 20-2.

3. North Carolina

Over the last week, the Tar Heels beat Wake Forest and Florida State to get to 17-3 on the season. Safe to say, Hubert Davis is pushing the right buttons this winter.

In the win over the Seminoles, UNC’s RJ Davis had 24 points, three rebounds and one assist. Elliot Cadeau added 16 points, two rebounds and six assists in the victory.

4. Houston

Ahead of a Monday night showdown against the Texas Longhorns, the Cougars beat a ranked BYU team and then dominated Kansas State. It was a good week.

In the win over Kansas State, Houston improved to 18-2 overall. Jamal Shead led the way with 17 points and three assists. J’wan Roberts added 14 points, six rebounds and two assists.

5. Tennessee

Tennessee had a good week and won its lone game against Vanderbilt. Winning 75-62, the Volunteers improved to 15-4 on the season.

Dalton Knecht continued his dominance this season, putting up 32 points, six rebounds and three assists. Santiago Vescovi added 12 points, five rebounds and two assists.

6. Wisconsin (+7)

The Badgers are into the top 10 this week following a dominant win over Michigan State, 81-66. The team also edged Minnesota 61-59 earlier last week.

In the win over the Spartans, AJ Storr led the way with 28 points and two rebounds. Steven Crowl added 15 points, seven rebounds and three assists in the victory.

7. Duke (+5)

Duke takes on Virginia Tech on the road Monday night after skating by Clemson after a controversial foul call Saturday. Nonetheless, the Blue Devils beat Louisville last Tuesday as well.

In the win over the Tigers, Jared McCain had 21 points, five rebounds and two assists. Tyrese Proctor had 18 points, five rebounds and two assists. Not only that, he had the winning free throws to get Duke win No. 15.

8. Kansas (-1)

Kansas beat Cincinnati last Monday but fell victim to an upset at the hands of Big 12 foe Iowa State, 79-75. On the surface, it was a ranked loss for Bill Self’s crew.

Hunter Dickinson led the way with 20 points, 15 rebounds and four assists. Kevin McCullar Jr. was second in scoring putting up 16 points, seven rebounds and three assists.

9. Marquette (+5)

Marquette had a 2-0 week and it concluded with a dominant win over Seton Hall, 75-57, to cruise to a 15-5 record. The Golden Eagles also took care of DePaul on Wednesday.

In the win over Seton Hall, David Joplin had 20 points and three rebounds. But it was Oso Ighodaro that led the way with 21 points, seven rebounds and four assists.

10. Kentucky (-4)

Kentucky fell victim to an upset last Tuesday at the hands of South Carolina but rebounded, no pun intended, with a win over Arkansas. The win improved the Wildcats to 15-4 on the season.

In the win over the Razorbacks, Antonio Reeves had 24 points, four rebounds and one assist. Reed Sheppard added 14 points, four rebounds and five assists.

Another week in the books and the next time we circle back to the rankings, it’ll be February. That much closer to March Madness!
