AP releases Men’s Preseason All-American Team for '25-'26

College basketball is two weeks out from tipping off the upcoming season for ’25-’26. With that, the Associated Press announced their list this morning as to who they’d voted as Preseason All-Americans.
The AP released the five players selected as Preseason All-Americans on Monday morning. It features two players who finished last season as AP All-Americans, with, respectively, one from the First Team and another from the Second Team from ’24-’25. All five are then represented on teams, with two apiece in the Big Ten and Big 12 along with one from the SEC, who were ranked last week in the Top-10 at the release of AP Preseason Top-25. It’s also a very tall lineup being recognized, with one point guard surrounded by forwards.
Here are the AP Preseason All-Americans for the upcoming season:
Florida F Alex Condon
Condon is the top returning contributor from last season’s team that won the national title in the 2025 NCAA Tournament. He’s now the representative for the defending champions on the Preseason All-American Team, while receiving the fewest votes of the selections with 16.
As a sophomore last season, Condon averaged 10.6 points (49.3% FG), 7.5 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 1.3 blocks per game for the Gators, leading them in rebounding and blocks. Now, as a junior, and already having been selected to the Preseason All-SEC First Team, Condon, the versatile big, will be expected to be even more of a contributor this season in Gainesville, with Florida at No. 3 in the Preseason AP Poll.
BYU F AJ Dybantsa

Dybantsa, earning the second-fewest votes of the selections with 22, is the top incoming freshman in college basketball this season. That’s as he was the No. 1 overall recruit and a Five-Star+ prospect in the 2025 recruiting cycle per Rivals’ Industry Ranking, a a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
With his arrival in Provo, expectations are near an all-time high, especially in the preseason, for the Cougars, who are coming off an appearance in the Sweet 16. Dybantsa, coming off a 30-point outing in his collegiate debut in the preseason with Brigham Young, and already selected as Preseason All Big-12, will now try to be the next freshman phenom to lead a program, with BYU at No. 8 in the Preseason AP Poll, to success in the sport.
Michigan F Yaxel Lendeborg
Similarly, Lendeborg was the top overall transfer in the portal this offseason in moving from UAB to Michigan. That’s per On3’s Industry Ranking of 2025’s Top Transfer Portal Players.

After three seasons in JUCO, Lendeborg, in two seasons with the Blazers, averaged 15.8 points (51.8% FG), 11 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.9 blocks, and 1.2 steals per game, as he was twice voted as First Team All-AAC. He, also coming off quite the preseason debut with a 31-point (62.5% FG), 12-rebound double-double, will now bring that do-everything play to Ann Arbor, where the Wolverines are at No. 7 in the Preseason AP Poll, with the maize & blue’s new forward receiving the third-most votes of the selections with 30.
Purdue G Braden Smith – (Unanimous)
Smith was the lone unanimous selection as a Preseason AP All-American, receiving all of the total votes with 57. That’s with the Boilermakers’ point guard back, after being a Consensus First-Team All-American in ’24-’25, to lead the top team in the country coming into this season with No. 1 Purdue.
Smith is coming off a career-best season in West Lafayette, posting 15.8 points (42.8% FG, 38.1% 3PT on 2.3 makes), 8.7 assists, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.2 steals per game, which earned him Big Ten Player of the Year and, in consecutive seasons, First Team All-Big Ten, with him already being Big Ten Preseason Player of the Year for this season as well. He’s now back for his senior season in trying to lead Purdue to even more success, having been in the Elite Eight in three of the past four seasons including one national title appearances in 2024.
Texas Tech F JT Toppin

Toppin, the reigning winner of Big 12 Player of the Year, is back for his junior season with the Red Raiders. That’s after being a Consensus Second Team All-American as a sophomore last year in Lubbock.
Last season, Toppin posted 18.2 points (55.4% FG), 9.4 rebounds, 1.5 blocks, and 1.2 assists per game. He’s now back for No. 10 Texas Tech, as they go again for one of their best seasons in program history, as he received the second-most votes of the selections with a near-unanimous total of 52.
