Arizona State defensive lineman Gharin Stansbury has entered the NCAA transfer portal, On3 has learned. Stansbury just wrapped up his third season — redshirting his freshman year — with the program and will look to play his final two seasons of college football elsewhere.

Injuries have been the story of Standbury’s career thus far, playing in just five games over the last two seasons. Back in 2021, he got over 60 snaps and 55 of them were coming off the edge. Stansbury did record a few stats during that action, having two tackles and one tackle for a loss.

Stansbury played high school football at Franklin (LA) High School, where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 947 overall recruit in the 2021 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Rankings, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Four other Power Five programs offered Stansbury during his high school recruitment. Indiana, Kansas, Penn State, and Texas were all interested in the defensive lineman but ultimately, Arizona State wound up winners.

If any of them want to reconnect with Stansbury, there is now a golden opportunity. The former three-star is back on the market and open to communication.

Arizona State hosting QB transfer Jeff Sims on visit

According to Chris Karpman of Sun Devil Source, former Nebraska quarterback Jeff Sims is currently on a visit to Arizona State. Sims entered the NCAA transfer portal following the 2023 season but has yet to find a home. Now, the Sun Devils are emerging as an option for the fifth-year player.

“Senior Nebraska QB transfer Jeff Sims is currently visiting ASU, I’ve learned,” Karpman said via X. “Great size, impressive athlete and arm talent but struggled with turnovers in a few games last season. Before that, he was a three-year starter at Georgia Tech. He has 31 career TD passes and 29 INTs.”

Sims is searching for his third school, beginning his career at Georgia Tech. He entered the 2023 season as Nebraska‘s starter but as Karpman mentioned, turnovers were an issue for him. Eventually, head coach Matt Rhule had to make a change.

In five games with the Huskers last season, two of which were starts, Sims threw for 282 yards, one touchdown, and six interceptions while completing 59.6% of his throws. Sims was a little better on the ground with 189 yards and a touchdown on 42 carries.
