Arizona State vs. Oklahoma State: Early point spread released for Sun Devils, Cowboys

Oklahoma State and Arizona State will soon be regular opponents in the Big 12, and they’ll provide fans with a preview of what’s to come when they face off in Week 2. It is the second straight season the two teams will play each other after the Cowboys notched a 34-17 victory last season in Stillwater.
This year’s matchup is set to take place in Tempe, but OSU still opens as a narrow 3.5-point favorite against the Sun Devils according to FanDuel. The over/under for the contest is set at 54.5.
The Cowboys opened up the season on Saturday with a 27-13 victory against Central Arkansas of the FCS. Despite coming out flat and leading by only six points entering the fourth quarter, the Oklahoma State offense found a rhythm when Gunnar Gundy entered the game at quarterback.
Gundy led the Cowboys on back-to-back touchdown drives in the fourth quarter to help them pull away. He finished an efficient 7-of-9 passing for 106 yards (including three passes of 20-plus yards) while also adding 20 yards rushing. Garrett Rangel started the game at quarterback and finished with a team-high 118 yards, a touchdown and an interception.
Michigan transfer Alan Bowman also saw a significant amount of time at quarterback. However, with the way Gundy performed to close the game, many have begun to wonder whether he made a case to be the starter in Week 2.

Arizona State also had a close call in Week 1 but managed to eke out a 24-21 win against Southern Utah in its first game under coach Kenny Dillingham. Unlike Oklahoma State, the Sun Devils played just one quarterback as four-star freshman Jaden Rashada won the job in fall camp.
Rashada had an interesting path to Arizona State. He originally committed to play for Miami before flipping to Florida, but then requested out of his letter of intent due to empty promises of an NIL deal with the Gators. That led to him committing to the Sun Devils, and he put together a solid debut to throw for 236 yards and a pair of touchdowns on 18-of-31 passing.
The Sun Devils also added transfer running back Cameron Skattebo, who rushed for 71 yards and a touchdown while also hauling in four catches for 41 yards in Week 1. Coming off a 3-9 finish, Arizona State will hope those offseason additions give it a chance to be more effective offensively this season.
Ultimately, the matchup between Oklahoma State and Arizona State is shaping up to come down to the wire if you believe the Vegas line. Kickoff for the game is set for 9:30 p.m. CT on Saturday.
