It’s been an outstanding start to the 2025 season for the Arkansas football program, as it has absolutely demolished its first two opponents of the season. The Razorbacks opened with a 52-7 drumming of Alabama A&M and then turned that into a 56-14 win over in-state Arkansas State in Little Rock last Saturday.

The Razorbacks open SEC play this weekend against No. 17 Ole Miss, which owns the lone win in SEC play this season. Lane Kiffin‘s Rebels opened the year with a 63-7 win over Georgia State and knocked off Kentucky 30-23 in Lexington last Saturday to open conference play 1-0.

Ole Miss quarterback Austin Simmons was listed as probable when the initial injury report was released Wednesday, but was nowhere to be seen on either Thursday or Friday’s update. This indicates the Rebels QB1 is set to start this weekend.

Arkansas vs. Ole Miss has quietly bloomed into one of the best rivalries in all of the Southeastern Conference. The Rebels and Hogs have split the last 10 meetings 5-5, with last year’s contest getting extremely out of hand. Led by future First Round NFL Draft pick Jaxson Dart at quarterback, Ole Miss led 35-10 at the break last season and held on for a 63-31 win in Fayetteville.

“I do think the game was an example of just every play went our way,” Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin said on the SEC Coaches Teleconference. “Every call, every ball was perfectly thrown. So, it was one of those games that, every once in a while, happens where, kind of, every break went our way.”

Arkansas is 2-3 against Ole Miss under Sam Pittman

Obviously, Kiffin is hoping for more of the same this weekend. Arkansas head coach Sam Pittman is however hoping for a different result. During last year’s postgame press conference, Pittman wondered if Arkansas was tipping plays to Ole Miss. He is confident the matter has been fixed.

“All offseason with that,” Pittman said. “We certainly had a conversation again last night about that. I’m not saying there’s anything wrong — if someone is telling me what they’re doing, offensively, every play and I know it, I’m probably going to use it.”

“I don’t look at that as anything and I’m not saying they did or anything like that. I’m just saying that we’re the only ones that should know what we’re running, unless they have some tendency on us… whether if we’re playing Ole Miss or whoever.”

Kick-off between No. 17 Ole Miss and Arkansas on Saturday is scheduled for 7:00 PM ET on ESPN. The Rebels are -6.5 on the spread, according to BetMGM.
