Four-star WR Ashton Cozart commits to Oklahoma

Ashton Cozart never had a timeline for making his college decision. When he was heading back to the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex from Norman last week, however, it finally sank in.
Cozart, a four-star wide receiver from Marcus (Texas) Flower Mound, committed to Oklahoma on Friday. Texas, TCU and Washington were other schools also in the mix for the No. 62 overall player in the 2023 On300.
The combination of Brent Venables, Jeff Lebby and elite quarterback Jackson Arnold already in the fold made for an easy call for Cozart.
“It was an all-around great atmosphere and the vibe I got from the new coaching staff was nice,” Cozart told On3. “It’s great to see my guys like Jackson and Marvin (Mims).”
“The coaching changes there were for the better,” he added. “Oklahoma will always be Oklahoma, but I got a lot of great energy out of there from Coach Venables and I can’t wait to see how everything falls into place.”

Lebby recruited Cozart at his previous stop at Ole Miss, which instantly caught the four-star wide receiver’s attention.
“As soon as I knew Coach Lebby was going to Oklahoma, I knew the offensive changes that were going to happen,” an excited Cozart remarked. “He’s a great coach with a great scheme, and everybody knows that.”
Cozart is the nation’s No. 116 player and No. 19-ranked wide receiver, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average. On3 ranks Cozart as the No. 62 player overall and the No. 8 receiver in the country for 2023.
